i saw allan in 2010 at the baked potato. i sat two feet away from him, his amp rig and fx unit was on my table! he got 'lost' during his solo during the simple 'fred' jam, at the end of the solo he turned to me and my housemate and said 'sorry'. i talked to him afterwards, and he told me about his dislike of computers and facebook, i didn't mention that i founded his almost official facebook group, 'the unreal allan holdsworth', with a friend from greece...

i complain about the audio in another comment, but at least in this mix, allan's lead is nice and in front. the time i saw him at the baked potato, he was buried by drummer ronald bruner. i eventually learned that allan LOVES to be buried in the mix by drummers (gary husband told me this fact_, which i think is just a manifestation of his self deprecation. i know people love allan for the self deprecation, but it needs to be understood that self deprecation is a form of egotism. it ..just...is...think about it, go ahead...

only music nerds could appreciate this. the sound quality. i'm a music nerd. but boy, the sound quality. i know it's bootleg. but the only way to really enjoy recordings like this is if you're a nerd and can separate the content from the actual sound, which is dreadful. the content, itself, of course is delightful. but, please, never share something like this with someone who has never heard allan before. always share the studio stuff first. or if not that, at least something hi fidelity like the yoshi's set...

Awesome stuff! Joel is a good friend of mine and he has told me countless stories of this trio performing at the Baked Potato back in the day! Nice to hear this stuff. I just sent this to Joel!!
