Let’s not forget Gary Novak !!!!!!! My second after VC. Vinnie is on a different level, bigger vocabulary, bigger chops. More fluid, and has a deeper pocket. He hired him for Secrets for a reason, he wanted something a little different, a little better, he wanted. VINNIE !!!!!!!!!!

Every musician, freekin' top notch!! It is so unbelievably ballsy of AH to go all Drums Were Yellow/Coltranish on solo part 1 blowing the roof off the venue/world only to dive deeper into wildness with us mortals hanging on for dear life. Steve Hunt's beautiful solo, JJ's rocking melodic bass, and Vinnie's volcanic drumming throughout? What more could we want? ❤

DTTHM is where Allan's improv is amazing. And when Allen kicks in after the keyboards, its mind-blowing

Probably only one man who could out-play(?) Vinnie, or at least keep up with him, is Allan Holdsworth.

Allan's meter is atomic clock locked. Vinnie tried to shake him but Allan just kept playing.

Vinnie is my favorite all time but there’s something about how he plays with Alan that I don’t like. I guess it’s where the beat is..he’s on top much more than husband and Chad who play a deeper gulf between bass drum and snare. There’s far less breathing of the groove in all of the VC gigs I’ve heard than the big 2 Gary and Chad He is fabulous and it’s amazing they got together and the work on secrets is not as rushed but there’s a forced element to their interaction that I don’t hear with the others. GREAT quality recording AH is the all time king for me. Thanks

That's because you don't know what you're talking about in regards to Vinnie
@mentoneman Жыл бұрын
@@gregmarch2508 No offense. Vinnie is my favorite drummer of all time as well, period. I speak as a guitar player knowing the little about the intricacies of drums I've collected as a live player, live sound engineer, and a fan who has seen Vinnie live with Dyno 4 at the NoHo Baked Potato, with Robben Ford at the San Juan Capistrano Coach House, and Sting at Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu. Vinnie is perfect. But IMHO I would have to agree with @AW Rogers observations too. With this Allan recording, Vinnie is more distracting than I've ever heard him play. Maybe he was excited, nervous....Gary Husband is my top choice for THE drummer for Allan's band. I've seen him and Chad and Virgil play with Allan live over the years. And for reference, I've also seen both Weckl with Chick's Electric Band and Steve Smith with Vital Information at the Cahuenga Bar and Grill in H-Weird to round out my favorites ever!
