Thanks for posting this, I really miss Australian touring cars, there's so many different cars and capacities, "Supercars" ruined Australian motor racing.

I was a keen watcher of the atcc in the mid to late 80s was a highlight of the week. V8 commodores, BMWs, turbo Nissans, rx7 and a few others good variety of cars drivers and budgets.

Those Nissan Bluebird TURBOs were a favourite of mine back then - Fury was a great driver too.

Mine too...they were what got me into Nissan's and especially TURBO'S....I've owned my R32 GTR now for just over 25 years and will NEVER Sell it

I used to work at Morgan park raceway and I saw the turbo Nissan's and the RX7 plus many other old original race cars at historic events there, still some of the greatest race cars ever built

Owned a 12a powered `78 RX7. Fastest car I ever owned on a straight or cornering. Speedo only went to 180km/h. 6000rpm in 5th and still winding up when the road got too short, by then the speedo needle was nearly back at 0. Wish I hadn`t sold it. Worth a lot now,,,,

So sad to know that Alan Moffat (85) isn't well. In 2019, it was reported that Moffat was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and had been moved to a specialist healthcare facility. Bob Jane (Died: 28 September 2018) and Peter Brock (Died: 8 September 2006) are both gone . Nice to know though that Dick Johnson (79) , Murray Carter (93) and George Fury (79) are all still with us.

This is Round 1 ATCC : 1983 Therefore the 12A engine was being used: the 13B efi was approved by CAMS for the endurance series.

Sandown 500 was first race with injected 13b! It was approved for all races
@Steveaustin00728 күн бұрын
@ yes - that sandown 500 which was September : was apart of the endurance series as I mentioned. CAMS HOMOLOGATION from the start of the Endurance series . The endurance series-1983 was Amaroo park : Oran Pk : Sandown and Bathurst . Surfers Paradise and Adelaide. The cheating back then is something people either aren’t ready for or don’t want to believe . Corruption like everything - unbelievable.
