Hi everyone this is Allan McKay - I wanted to welcome you to a brand new video I am really excited to put out. This is based on an Instagram post that I put out for fun that I've had a lot of people asking about how I did it and wanting to see behind the scenes.
Check out my Instagram here (I try to post 2-3 times per day all related to VFX) - go to / allanmckayofficial
Also check out these resources here:
Free City Destruction VFX Course (8 lessons + project files + Footage): www.vfxcourse.com
Thank you for subscribing: www.youtube.co...
This tyFlow 3DS Max VFX (visual effects) tutorial focuses on how to create particle patterns and intricate motion inside of tyFlow.
How to set up smoke simulations and other effects. You can create these in 3DS Max or Maya or Houdini Cinema 4D or Blender. As the process is relatively the same. What makes this unique is understanding turbulence and noise patterns and controlling advanced particle systems.
Whether you use volumetrics or let this drive Phoenix FD I want to later dig into using After Effects (After FX) to composite particle rendering techniques to further this look.
Also I will be releasing a lot of new training over the coming days focused entirely on Thanos VFX tutorials on creating ash, smoke and using V-Ray to light and render all of it inside of tyflow and Phoenix FD. So stay tuned!
This is based both on the looks of the ash from Avengers Endgame and Avengers Infinity War VFX to create a realistic feature film quality live action visual effects sequence which is going to be very epic and unlike anything ever released!
Check out tyFlow for 3DS Max - which is a level up over Particle Flow developed by Tyson Ibele.

Hey Allan! Thank you for all of your hard work that you put into your videos! I do want to know, what are your thoughts on freeware? Do you think Blender is stepping up? Have you seen anything noteworthy made in Blender? Again, thanks for your videos!
@AllanMcKay
@AllanMcKay 5 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest I've never used Blender but I've been following it back as far as 2005 and I'm really blown away by what I see. I don't think free or paid makes too much of a difference, other than having more of a committed team and budget to bring on more more talent. But I really like where it's headed - my friends over at Tangent in Toronto are using it for a feature film exclusively and it's looking great so far!

Thank you very much for the content you keep providing, good stuff. Do you have any plans to take a closer look at the script operator? Apart from the documentation, I can't find any content for that online, and to me it looks like it could be one of the most powerful tools in tyFlow.
@AllanMcKay
@AllanMcKay 5 жыл бұрын
Definitely at some point - so far I'm more focused on what moves the needle. I used to script EVERYTHING back in the Maya days - but there's such a big benefit to node based workflows that you actually don't have to script too much anymore. So there's still a need for it but it's less necessary. So I'll give it some thought as to ways that it could be best utilized. Rather than scripting for scriptings sake. However, I just recorded a scripting tutorial which I'll release tonight or tomorrow so stay tuned :) (not scripting with tyFlow but scripting still and I plan to do another scripting one over the weekend) Thanks Stan!

In Battleship the movie directed by Peter Berg, there's that one scene where the alien ship creates a beam effect and it goes up in sky and creates a force field.. How can I make a similar effect? I've notice when that beam charge up and shoots out there's some lightning effects but overall that particles animation is awesome.

Is this smoke interactive ? If i put character in this smoke will it interact with it .
@AllanMcKay
@AllanMcKay 5 жыл бұрын
If you use the particle force operator at the end of the lesson right you can bind it as a force to get particles to move away from it. However, if you take my particle dispersion lesson and combine it with this you can do exactly that. Use a Phoenix FD force to drive the particles interaction with the character.

@bobankrsmanovic9398
@bobankrsmanovic9398 5 жыл бұрын
@@kanitk8632 I wouldn't get overcomplicated with smoke/character collision, mostly because, in reality, smoke is more affected by the air/wind force that character movement produce, and you don't really see much of the collision. That being said, few wind forces (with attenuation) linked to character bones, might do the trick very well, and you don't need particles to calculate heavy character mesh. Just my 2 cents. Good luck :)
