Hi Allan. Been watching your videos for about a year. I'm a new artist trying to break into the industry, and it seems that a big problem I'm having is that I don't know anybody involved in the field. I'm self taught, don't live near any cities known for vfx studios, but I have something to show for my skills. I'm doing what I can in the meantime, like applying for remote jobs and posting my work to forums for feedback. I haven't been noticed yet and it does feel a little scary like Tehmina was saying, but videos like this help me keep my head up.

I've a question about freelance though. Isn't it difficult to land a job starting out as a freelancer, because you don't have any production reels? The most you'd be able to put in as your first job is your personal reel, but a personal reel won't necessarily convince a studio to hire a freelancer? So wouldn't it be better to work as a staff for a few months first to collect some reels/ work to show to other companies?
