The All Blacks game plan was incredible - watching them play is always like watching a one person team. They link up amazingly and constantly drive forward, exploiting mistakes. Gutted about the result but when you're playing the All Blacks it's a different vibe.
@8HQZ7 жыл бұрын
The way they kept the ball going so fast in the tight exchange to tire the Lions defence! Sacrificed width early in the game knowing more likely than not it would open up. bloody brilliant.
@JJ-xp6mr7 жыл бұрын
Ollie Langdon I think the All Blacks will be kicking themselves tbh. They played the more effective game plan but they made a number of handling errors which gave the Lions a number of potential scoring opportunities. They will also be worried about the cover defence in those situations because the Lions asked a lot of questions tonight and probably should've scored at least one or two more tries
@thesheepthatwentmooo7 жыл бұрын
+Chris Jones - yeah, gotta agree with that. The Lions had a few good counter attacks but weren't clinical enough as the All Blacks cover came back. Looking forward to next week!

Lions were very competitive for a good sixty but that's when the ABs really switch on! Lions last try was a signal they are willing to stick in it, hopefully they remain this competitive throughout the rest of the series.
@TDMFAN7 жыл бұрын
Lions did provide a good challenge - their first try was a beaut and the second shows they were in the game until the end. The ABs chose to play them at their own game of tight forward phases while preventing the Lions from doing so and it did the trick.
@rukaks7 жыл бұрын
Kolby and the Lions threw the ball around a lot more than I expected too, good on them. A bit more accuracy and it would have been a lot tighter. Best wishes to Ben Smith and Crotty, hope they recover swiftly
@TDMFAN7 жыл бұрын
I think the main problem for them is that they were confronted with said ABs tight forward tactics so they were forced to shift into back play, which they would not have prepared as much for. So of course that ended up being very rusty for them. I have no doubt next week's game style will be different for both teams so who knows what will happen.

I have to say as an All Blacks fan, well done the Lions. The score doesn't reflect how well the Lions played for the first 55 minutes, playing great counter attack rugby but were unlucky not to score some. Williams, Te'o, Murray and Davies were playing out of there minds. But just like the match against Samoa, the flood gates open up and more tries came through from brilliant attack from the All Blacks. Can't wait for the next test match because this test match was entertaining.

@xpat737 жыл бұрын
The difference with the All Blacks is if they create chances to score a try they will take them. Blacks had 3 chances to score and scored three times. Lions had 5 chances to score and took two. That's the difference. From the Lions point of view, two of the tries were very soft - one and three - and should not be conceded at this level.
@jessran707 жыл бұрын
ABS had more than 3 chances. That is just a line media came up with to make it appear Lions played better. Both pens kicked in 1st half were right in front of posts. ABS could've scored tries in lead up to pens on both occasions.
@archiebunker41087 жыл бұрын
3 tries to two is not winning easily and the scoreline does not reflect the closeness of the game. Well done to the All Blacks but it was not an easy win.

Jose Ji agreed. Never been much of a Cane fan but he had an excellent game tonight. Incredible that Read could play like that after virtually no rugby all year. Incredible that Retallick can play so hard, so dominant, so well, so often. A Smith also getting back to his best. Good to see SBW getting involved so much, & just crunching it up sometimes. Hit a lot of rucks too. Any other AB in Ioane's position (except maybe Dagg?) would've struggled to score that try, he's way faster than I realised. Good head on him too, high work rate
@johothechristmaselve70017 жыл бұрын

I'm a Lions fan, but you just have to admire this All Blacks team. Kieran Reid is perhaps the best No. 8 I have ever seen. He is robust, powerful, has great workrate, hands and decision making. He is incredible. This game did not unfold like I thought it would. I thought the Lions would edge it up front but that the All Blacks would score tries out wide and take their chances. To see the possession and territory stats being so lop sided and get beaten up front is worrying for the Lions. I'd perhaps get Itoje on for new week as a starter. Well done the All Blacks! The Lions must win next week....can they? I always thought this series would be 2-1 to the All Blacks with the game going to the last test. We shall see. Sometimes when teams have to win, they do.

so great to see R. Ioane keep his head and take those opportunities! didn't have to field as many high kicks as he might have but Izzy Dagg was taking them beautifully on both sides of the field! their performance bodes well for a 3-0 victory but not for Julian Savea taking the record of Dougie Howlett

All blacks too good in the tight but how bloody good was that try. Best try scored against us in a while. They created many opportunities but ultimately didn't convert enough of them. I still say that Itoje + Warburton (your tour captain) need to start especially Itoje. No point bringing them on for impact when your already losing by 20. The good thing is the lions were in the match for 60+ minutes. The bad news is this All Blacks team lost their starting fullback and centre after 20 minutes and the lions couldn't take full advantage of it and still got comprehensively beaten.

jared leo Only problem there is that Julian is vulnerable under the high ball and the Lions know it. They will be kicking down his wing all night the way they did with Dagg in this test. I'd also have Sopoaga over Cruden based on tonight's performance. Cruden just didn't have the size to be an effective attacking option against a very tight and formidable Lions defence. Other than that I like your pick

3:57 - Lions absolutely butcher an overlap and try. That's the difference. The All Blacks would have passed out long accurate passes there and put their player over in the corner - letting the ball do the work.....Teo steps back inside (the worst decision) and falls over.

Sorry...don't see what people like about Owen Farrell. He brings nothing. Players that impressed. Peter O'Mahony (definitely stays as Captain). Liam Williams. Ben Te'o. Jonathan Davies. Anthony Watson. And Maro Itoje off the bench, and the cameo from Rhys Webb. Player that didn't impress. O'Brien (Got the try but also got turned over too much for my liking). Alun Wyn Jones (Starting to look his age now) George Kruis. Johnny Sexton. Owen Farrell. Mako Vunipola. Changes I would make. Rory Best for Jamie George. Maro Itoje and Courtney Lawes in For George Kruis and Alun Wyn Jones. CJ Stander or Justin Tipuric in for O'Brien. (both are better at the breakdown in my opinion and that was the one area in which the Lions were to slow) Dan Bigger in For Owen Farrell (who doesn't contribute anything, no offense to anyone English)...but will probably be Sexton.

Bigger? Lol ABS would salivate. OF had a bad game it happens. Frankly given rugby Lions wanted to play? Russell or Ford would have suited that style far better. Williams had a good game but that defensive lapse was big. Watson was ok, he does what he usually does make a few decent breaks but look wobbly in defense. Teo? Yeah he is ok but no dynamism at all. His ball skills are zero and his inclination to see out contact may have cost Lions a try. Also his big tackle on SB Williams that has everyone hyped...cost Lions a penalty.

Nada Barton the only bad thing about farrell's game was his missed kick. He had sent numerous people through gaps and was tackling ABs around the park, especially that hit he shared with Te'o on Bill Williams. Yes, he wasn't as commanding as usual, but still played fine rugby. Examples of good play: cross kick to daly (not even his thing), multiple pull back passes putting players into holes (especially Davies), big hits (like Bill Williams)

At 2:58 it looks like 12 is obstructed from making the tackle.

How come they didn't select Julian Savea?

Because on current form he is behind Ioane and Naholo.

All blacks won, lost, then tied. Highlanders won. Obviously they weren’t facing the best possible lions team tho

Serves the lions right for being big headed and fielding half their reserves.
