The following comment is from a South African, so please take it with a pinch of New Zealand salt or indeed green lipped mussels as you prefer. I had to have a laugh at JK's comment about Ardie moving to Moa. The incredible amount of unsubtle disrespect for Ardie & his culture was gob-smacking. His move is great for 'his culture', his game and yes... will still be contracted to play for the 'Main-Island' until 2027... He should be respected after an entire career with the Hurricanes, incredible duty to the Black jersey and a fantastic servant of the game in general.

Shouldn't be there at all until next year. That being said, ideally you want 2 fullbacks on the field, or at least 1 of your wingers able to kick. This is how much you know about rugby - 1) no.8 is what you call a power player in the loose forwards who gets over the advantage line for his forwards 2) Savea is NOT a power player because of the exceptional skils set he has 3) no.8 is a ball-carrier into heavy traffic - Savea is not that because Savea is a lethal open play runner 4) Savea's ability to link with his backs and create an attack These are all no.7 features NOT 8! You beat a rush defense by running it up the guts and getting 5-10m over the advantage line so the defense can't set and is offside before delivering quick ball to the backs. The backs can then play space (in hand ball, attacking the weak shoulder, and tactical/contestable kicking) supported by a loosie or two. The ABs are developing some monster front-rowers with good hands and athletic second-rowers with the required mongrel. The back row balance needs to be found...Ardie/Blackadder at 7, Pinau/Papali'i at 6, and Sititi/Jacobson at 8. Sam Cane will need to show a good super season t get back in. Christie's delivery and pass is too slow for this style of play...the future is Roigard, Ratima and Hotham. Keep TJ in the squad for now. Rieko does not have the eye for space or kicking required to be a stand-out international center.

I agree with the rush defense comment. The blues forwards centric style would have eaten england for breakfast(and I'm not a blues fan), just with up front tactics, repeat crash and any offload is then in the backfield. Zero blues backs other than Clark have shown form to be selected(and they have had opportunities despite Blues playstyle). I don't agree with selecting Beaudan/Ardie/Jordan/Cane at all with no play time.(no matter what they play like) It's not like we don't have player depth everywhere but lock. NZ rugby paying them has to play them, at the expense of developing players at the best time, far from a world cup. Razor covering his ass with conservatism.

Given that Ardie has extended with the ABs through to RWC27 & making himself available during that entire period, I would say that Ardie signing for Moana Pasifika was all done with the agreement/support/funding of the NZR just like the deal with Jordie to Leinster for a season. For Ardie, it is almost like a sabbatical but within the shores of NZ whilst assisting those of his heritage. Ardie will still be available to the NZR/ABs be they tours, mid season/week camps etc. Ardie will help the development of Moana Pasifika from both a playing perspective of both individuals & numbers across all of the islands & a commercial perspective, bums on seats, advertising etc. It’s a win win situation for Ardie, NZR, Moana Pasifika & the SRP. What I haven’t seen (yet) is how long Ardie has signed for with Moana Pasifika be it 1 year or 3 years and/or whether or not Ardie will be subject to ‘AB Rest Weeks’ etc as you would expect Ardie to be the first name on the team sheet for each Moana Pasifika game & to bear the brunt of the responsibility to lift the Moana Pasifika team to a higher level.

Here's my view on this. Most in rugby have always maintained that how you behave on field is representative of how you behave off field. The two are not exclusive. Committed, collaborative, supportive and tolerant are all traits of the greatest in sport. I don't think the significance of this has been truly recognised as it will take time to sink in but, it's a selfless act. Can you imagine a Premiership soccer player dropping down to the bottom of the league. Not really. I'm pretty sure that many others are looking at themselves and really asking 'would I do the same thing?' It's what world rugby needs, and I really hope that it gets the response that it deserves. It's up to world rugby to capitalise on this, without making it out to be something that it's not. The real question is not why would he do this but, why wouldn't he.

Not sure why they are hung up on Rieko and passing........in the second England game he had 4 opportunities to pass however that would have left the winger very isolated, IMO. Sometimes it's better to go into contact. Plus Marshall states it wasnt only him not passing so why pick on him? I find that Jordi not passing is a bigger issue. He should be setting up Rieko for line breaks but he is always going into contact and Rieko is usually having to clean out for him. Also, the Fiji game is flattering the debutants. If you don't think that is the case, then think about when Anton Lienert Brown came on vs England in the second game. Impressive against Fiji, but can you remember anything he did against England, despite coming on when England were tired.........

Why Reiko is under the microscope. sure there's parts vs england that could've should've but then the entire backline was under extreme duress including the pack Fiji naturally afforded the run-on 15 the conditions to assert and therefore express themselves Proctor is the classic 13 no probs he needs a hitout against a tier 1 now if the rolls were reversed vs England ( the best blitz defense bar none ) he'd get stopped dead in his tracks because the Abs just couldn't break the vice-grip until well into the 2nd half

The All Blacks can't fall into the trap of only having one way of playing, once they do, opponents will soon work out how to deal with that style. Teams need to be able to adjust their plan to deal with what is in front of them, and that may mean changing the team to best deal with the opposition. New Zealand needs to bring on a raft of young talent, because they will bring different skill sets with them and that will provide options for the coaches. I have heard the pundits previously bemoaning squad rotation policies, but you need to pick different teams to meet the threats posed by different opponents.

I cringe every time John kirwan speaks. He's all over the show. Marshall spoke well.

Jef Wilson’s views on things are much more understandable then JKs and Justin is a halfback 😂

Will Jordan is world class winger.I am not so sure he is world class fullback. At fullback you need to be good at both sides of the ball.Last line of defence, kicking skills. We know Beauden Barrett has those skills.

Islanders would love to play for their home countries but first thing first is providing for their family and that’s what John will never get coming from privilege, islander first loyalty is family not country but making sure their families are living as good as them. No matter Ardie will show no matter the status culture and loyalty will grow the pacific interest and potentially grow the income into our islands. John thinks ardie playing for Moana will affect his status but individually your own game will show. More polynesian talent being bought overseas and families supporting their kids decisions because they want better for their off spring and in return their off springs repay their family sacrifices. John doesn’t come from struggle so he will never understand, Polynesians born out of their home countries it don’t matter, ardie wants to grow his own game and test himself and pay respects to his culture. Make polynesians play for their home country and see how far NZ rugby lasts. John needs to sit down and realise that if more money was poured into pacific rugby teams, islander teams would be more prolific and dangerous from all these 1 tier teams

Use footwork to beat rush defense easier than try to offload. Kiwi's or ABs naturally have the better foot work other than the Pacific Island teams. Just use that beat the rushing defence all day that way. Use foot work easy they won't rush anymore 2 steps to the side and they fly right past you!! D mack is better using foot work they will think twice about rushing after a few side steps and beating them. Even South Africa our guys can easily out step them they are big lugs and not very coordinated like the ABs traditionally always are.
