Biggest complaint from Vets is that most dogs are over weight so using food from the daily intake is NOT starving it. Great job Guys.

I'd love to see Ester Pullano on a podcast! 🙂 Anything search and rescue would be awesome to hear about too. And anything tracking and trailing.

In my opinion and experience Food is a very strong motivator for many dogs and is often used to teach foundational behaviors in young dogs. It is very unfortunate then when people do not use the dog’s food in this way to teach and shape behaviors. Many people see food as simply a meal and will free feed that meal letting the dog graze it throughout the day. This oftentimes destroys the dog's food drive making it impossible to train them using food or treats. Not only does this have the chance to destroy the dog’s food drive but the owners are also missing out on an important opportunity to build a bond with their dog and create positive behaviors. By hand feeding the dog, at least one of the meals during the day, you will be developing a closer bond with your dog. On top of developing a better relationship with your dog you also can use that food to teach the dog different commands and behaviors. Some people may think that making a dog work for their food is cruel, this however is not the case. For hundreds of years dogs have been bred to work for us and they thrive when given the opportunity to work. By hand feeding your dog you are providing them with a purpose, mental stimulation, and fostering positive behaviors. Thank you 👊👊

Have either of you owned dogs who just not social with dogs or people? Do you train them to be more accepting people or just always be managing people around your dogs, not to touch your dog?
@OscarMorak9s2 жыл бұрын
There will always be those dogs that are just not into people. Depends on the dog. If it’s a fearful dog we can boost its confidence and it can help however sometimes we just have to manage.
