I truly believe the negative effects of alcohol on our culture does not get discussed enough. Drinking alcohol is so internalized into our culture as something normal that we sometimes forget it’s unhealthy and potentially dangerous. We have to do better for our youth. The police in Thailand will not bother you if you park your car and rest at a gas station after a long night of heavy drinking. It's an ironic question why the cops never consider this when determining how the drivers manage to drive all the way under the influence before stopping to rest. They always assume that drivers are exhausted from long hours of driving and that it is preferable to leave them to get good sleep.

@Alex M I got arrested and asked if I could stay in jail until I got over my withdrawals. I was able to bond out but I stayed until the worst of it was over, then I bonded out and got into rehab. They prescribed me suboxone in rehab and it’s saved my life. I’ve been weening down but not off of it yet. Like heather said, you really do have to change who you’re around etc. Also, therapy is a big part. Get to the root of why you’re using, what you’re running from and start working that out in therapy. The best advice I was given: “hustle for your recovery just as hard as you hustled to get your fix and you will stay clean.” That might sound daunting, but I promise it gets easier. Life will become manageable again, you’ll be able to enjoy life- the good and the bad. And when bad things come along in life, you’ll be able to deal with them more easily when you are clean. Especially if you reach out to others in recovery. I don’t go to NA or anything, but everyone kinda sticks together to help each other out when we can relate on our hardships. Strangers in recovery can grow to be family. Everyone has something to share to help. I wish the very best for you. You can do it.

As an recovered opiate addict myself also, don't you guys think he was on H not alcohol. You don't got from nodded out to standing up talking without slurring on alcohol, but you do on opiates. btw also suboxone helped me get clean. Even though some people have problem saying that isn't recovered, it truly is a necessary step in my eyes. it helps change your daily routine and habits of searching and scoring drugs, also moving away from you town or city is best. make sure anyone you know that would ask you for drugs or sell them to you is too far away to get to conveniently. good luck

Well I think the reason "allegedly drunk" is used is because there are other things that can impair an individual such as drugs or medications. Additionally there are rare instances of medical conditions that increase the BAC of an individual that could then impair them. So we can't say definitively that he "is drunk" until further investigation and examination likely via medical professionals

The guy survived that hit the father and daughter and it just made me so sad because she looked exactly like mine . I went sober for almost a full year then drank socially and almost got addicted to drinking again but I look at their photos to remind myself not to drink and drive also I have a good support group now to help me stay sober and if not sober than at least to call an Uber or get a ride . Lol he pulled a move that will allow his lawyer to get the whole stop thrown out. He didn't give the cop permission to search his car. He told them it was in the the car. Then the cop ask if it was in the glove box. However never once did he ask if he could search his car or even look in it.

@@michaeladdison4461 agreed. Also that male cop screwed up big time because he interrupted the female officer that was reading him his rights under DUI Law in Florida not only did he rummage through his pockets and ask him questions while she was reading it he also turned him in the opposite direction while there was background noise so the argument could be made that he didn't clearly understand his rights before he chose not to take the test.

Not really. Cop training videos usually have things like an old lady pulling an AK-47 out of her p***** and start murdering officers. That's so cops go into the job thinking every single citizen is a psychotic trained killer, and needs to be treated as such.

No matter how good of a person (or deputy) he is, no matter how stellar his record is, no matter how many lives he may have saved or changed, no matter how many bad perverted criminals he has taken off of the streets, this one bad decision is going to hurt him. Yeah, and it is unfortunate that this is an issue. I usually won't have even 1 "drink" and then drive. I always tell people who try to get me to drink that I don't want to take the chance of killing someone... I truly believe people who do this don't really care if they kill someone. They know what could happen and still don't care. To me, attempted reckless homicide every time they get behind the wheel.
