You guys are SO right! Allen was way ahead of his time. As for being unselfish, in Old Skynyrd videos, notice he's usually watching the other band members in which he's interacting with. By contrast, Gary is always looking at his own guitar. Allen Collins, my hero.

Skynyrd's most dynamic guitarist, who even though he survived the plane crash still had a subsequent car vehicle accident which killed his girlfriend and left him in a wheelchair until his own death from pneumonia. Allen Collins deserved a better ending for all the joy his talent gave to the world.

While in the Rossington Collins Band, MCA did very little promoting their 2ed album so Gary left. After Collins made this cd MCA did NOTHING to support the album making only a few copies--number unknown to me because they were over anything Collins. It's a GREAT album. Had Allen not drifted into the abyss I think he could have been huge on another lable. I'm sure he's at peace now because he was a tortured soul.

First the plane crash taking away one of the greatest front man and leader of his band and then his wife would test any man’s limits. I wish there could have been someone there to talk him off the ledge but there wasn’t. When I was in AA my mentor used to say you can only go on the information you got.
