Theese turned out great! I think the Acetone worked wonders on all that old flaky residue. Especially now in wintertime it's handy to have some "throwaway" shoes. These you can wear with pride out and about, without getting a heartattack every time you get some salt and water on them.

My father just to Stuff his shoes, writh a silky stock writh no color silk paper in it, that were weet and then just like you did he put thoes wooden stretch things in them, to get the shoes in shabe and the leather straight. Sorry my English is not so good, still learning. Great video. 😀 Hugs from Denmark 🇩🇰 🌹 🌺

Thank you once again Robert. I found this very relaxing and the results were (are) outstanding. Now, if I'd attempted this myself, I probably would've been pulling my hair out!

Your experience really shows in this video. You did great re-shaping the shoe with the acetone/shoe tree, sanding down the scuff and being aware as to where to apply wax considering the cap toe was compromised. Also, the shoelace color really complemented the shoe IMO. Per usual, a very entertaining and educational shoe video. Thank you, sir.

Sweet restoration Robert! I recently striped my thrifted AE and found that the removal of old wax build up made the vamp looked less creased. The old wax was embedded in the creases & with acetone and a little elbow grease i was able to eliminate creasing tremendously.

MONDOUHO IRO BLEWEI - most honest answer... I just don’t have any! I’ll definitely get some and try it. I also am afraid that any filler will crack and come out because the shoe flexes there.

I think they look pretty good at the end! Really the only significant issue is the unevenness that's still present on the toecap, and I don't think you'll see that from far away without a mirror shine. Also, you ever consider doing some sort of collaboration or meet-up with Kirby Allison? Preston from The Elegant Oxford did that recently.

Bob, great work! Always look forward to your videos. If those were keepers, would have dyed the entire shoe after the strip and crack repair. Then brought in the conditioner, and then into the cream. I would have also used a sanding block on the edges of the sole and heel, and then hit them with edge treatment. I’ve found that it makes a big difference to sand the edges smooth. On these though, you gave them a solid resto and they look great! Keep up the great work!

Hey Bob, just discovering your channel and enjoying it so far. Where can I find the shoe trees you use in this video? Also I think those laces are top-tier. Good choice! Thanks for all the great content!

I’ve always wondered how people get creases over their vamps, were they wearing shoes one or two sizes up?

I send my Allen Edmond shoes in to be rebuilt by the factory. They have a regular rebuild program. They come back looking completely new. I've owned the same four pair for the last forty plus years. They've been rebuilt several times each. On the other hand my casual shoes get thrown out every two years or so.

Although I personally have not used AEs re-crafting program on a pair of worn out shoes, I did have a new defective pair of AEs re-soled. Unfortunately there are a LOT of people on the Allen Edmonds Enthusiasts Facebook group that have reported poorly done recrafts recently.

Man...Monetize your channel ffs. I am sorry for the language, but you are doing great videos and you should make a buck from them. You can at least make 100$ а month to purchase the materials you use.

Great job sir! I have a pair of Merlot Cliftons that are regulars in my rotation. I've recently discovered that AE made a Clifton balmoral with six eyelets some years ago but I can't determine when. Do you have any info on that?

Yes, someone recently showed me a pair of Cliftons Oxfords! AE catalogs on issuu.com are the best source for that.

Looks like gentleman needed a bit wider shoe...after about 10 wipes with acetone, I was still getting black off, so just built new black finish on my antique ECCOs. I would wear these.

What does the isopropyl alcohol do?
@CobblerBob
@CobblerBob 4 жыл бұрын
John Kenney - I just had the 50/50 mix laying around (I use it to disinfect the insides of shoes). I just felt that the alcohol in it might let me get the leather wet so I could try to work out the wrinkles, but would dry out faster than water alone.

Kind of a noob question. I got a pair of Park Avenues in all black. The left shoe has a wrinkle crease on on the top of the cap toe right where the vamp connects to the toe cap. Is there a way to get rid of the pesky crease? I’ve stripped them but the crease still remains haha Any tips? Love your channel!
@100pushups6

It’s on the toe cap not the vamp
@CobblerBob
@CobblerBob Жыл бұрын
So sorry for missing your comment. The short answer is probably not. I've never been able to reverse a crease. Once it begins to set, the leather will continue to crease there. If a cap toe shoe creases on the toe cap, it's usually a fitment issue. You may need a different size shoe, either shorter or longer.
