Allen Iverson Playing High School Football

Not everybody knows that Iverson, actually, was a BETTER football player than he was a basketball player in High School. He was better than Mike Vick AND Aaron Brooks in High School. Had it not been for that bowling alley incident, Iverson may have ended up in the NFL. Maybe even at QB.

Played against him and with him back in the day..still the greatest strong safety and QB in VA high school history..he was throwing nearly 65 yd bombs easily and could hit like Ronnie Lott and cover like a young Deion Sanders..anyone from southeast VA knows what im talking about!

Yes sir!!! I played against Marcus Vick when he played for the Boys Club and I was with Denbigh. People Sleep on the 757 area. But the 757 has talent coming out of there. Graduated with Antoine Bethea in 02. Look at him!!!! In my opinion first Ballet Hall Of Famer in 2025 I think he is eligible.

Defx10 6 foot is below average QB in NFL. Average QB is 6'3. Plus, he was pretty skinny; 165 lbs. The smallest QB you'll find at 6'0 would at least be 210. Vick was 215, and he was considered "small". BB players got the height, FB players got the size.

Antbeast23 Uh lets see - being way too lazy to practice to make himself and his teammates play better, his demeanor, most of his teammates saying he has a bad attitude; the bowling alley incident as well, and never owning up to it.. As stated I don't like him as a person. But as an athlete, I can't disregard he is one of the best players in nba history.
@Antbeast23
@Antbeast23 7 жыл бұрын
El Roberto Duran I think that so called bad attitude is what made him good on the court he played with his all and carried them to the finals even. He had a killer instinct and played with heart. Yea he had an ego along with it but that's what made him. They never really had evidence with that incident too and served time as a result of it.

As good as iverson may have been at football, his impact on basketball will always be far greater than anything he could have done on the football field. he changed a generation of ballers. AI is the realest. He won both Mr Footall and Mr Basketball back to back in Va. One of the greatest ballers of all-time, AND he would been a great NFL player. Like a mix between Michael Vick and Reggie Bush. Allen Iverson and Bo Jackson are probably the best professional athletes I've seen.

Jeremiah Crespo considering they are from the same area which is also where I'm from it is more than fair to compare him to Vick. I watched them both play and Vick wasn't even close to Iverson. He could have easily played pro football. He would had to have been a CB or SR and a P/K returner. He is the best football player I had the honor to watch play. His C & S blitzes were blindingly fast. He was a better tackler than Deion and had Deion/Hester like return skills. Offense, defense and special teams he was a star. He only came off the field for FG and XP. Would have loved to see what he could have done in college. It wouldn't have surprised me at all if he won a Heisman. He was that good!
@BellinghamJude
@BellinghamJude 9 жыл бұрын
+beastwork He succeeded so immensely well in his '2nd best sport'. Sure, he might have chose the right route in picking basketball for his career cause he turned out to be legendary, but that also means we will never know how great AI can be in football. I mean, he seems to have equal talent for both, but AI always said that his No. 1 love for sports is football, not basketball.

Would Iverson have been a star in the NFL? Who knows, but he certainly could have played. It's hard to look at high school film and tell if somebody can play in the NFL (remember though that all these clips are from his JUNIOR year). But look at Iverson in the NBA. The man is a physical freak. He's unbelievably quick with world class balance. And he took a pounding in those NBA games by people just as big as those in the NFL, and got up every single time. He was an athletic MARVEL.
@jonathanjames29

He was an inspiration for me in high school. I also played QB and FS in Football, and I was the MVP/All State/High Scorer on the basketball team too, and I'm not a big guy. so when I learned he did all of this (NO DISREPECT), but I idolized my game after him instead of trying to be like Mike. I wanted to be like Mike. But at 6'6", I had a hard time pulling off his moves. But when AI came around, even though it was late in my high school days, I found a guy that I could play like! Love it!

"Street & Smith's College Football Yearbook" picked Allen Iverson as the pre-season co-national high school football player of the year before his senior year. They went to publication not knowing that he wasn't going to be playing any more high school sports after his junior season. He dominated as a defensive back, kick returner, and all-around QB. Michael Vick starred at all 3 of those positions also in high school. I saw them both.
