I'd say American football has some stupid rules that cause problems. For example the flopping on the ground to avoid taking a tackle is just crazy. In Rugby league you can't do that for exactly this reason, it leads to people smashing you on the ground. That shouldn't be allowed, if you take a voluntary tackle you should lose the ball. get rid of that stupid taking a knee BS to, that sucks.
@lil_thanos62132 жыл бұрын
@@rerooar it’s for the Quarterback and if you see them slide (because they aren’t really supposed to be hit) you don’t hit them it’s just a rule. I get what you’re saying but football is very different from rugby in which the game is played.

The guy who dealt the dirty hit, Marquel Wade, was promptly ejected for a flagrant personal foul despite Vanderbilt declining the penalty yards due to it essentially sending them backwards compared to where their secondary returner (the main one, Jonathan Krause, was the guy Wade leveled) got the ball. Offenses in football usually decline penalty yards if the result they got on the play during which the flag was thrown is better than where the penalty yards would put them (another prominent example is the New York Giants declining a pass interference penalty on Dallas defensive back Brandon Carr due to the touchdown Odell Beckham Jr scored through an incredible one-handed catch).

Most costly hit here was the one by Burfect against Brown. There was 18 seconds left in this playoff game, and the Bengal defense had been stopping Pittsburgh all night. This changed the game and ended the Bengals season. I'm not saying Cincinnati would have beat Denver (who won the SB with Peyton Manning that year) or New England and Tom Brady, but they had a chance, and this one play took all that away. To add, Brown said Burfect later apologized directly to him at least.

The incident Charles Martin on Jim McMahon is one of the cheapest shots in NFL history. This wasn't a "took an extra couple of steps" situation. The ball was gone for a few seconds and Martin just decided to slam McMahon to the ground. To show how bad it was, Martin actually got ejected, which was quite a feat in 1986. Jesus, that was 35 years ago. Today, Martin would be facing a multiple game suspension. I read in another video that after the play, the referee took hold of Martin's arm and said, ‘Ninety-four, you're out of game. I'm ejecting you.' And he pulled away and said, ‘I'm not going anywhere with you.' The ref looked at him and said, ‘If you don't come with me, I'm going to let the Bears kill you.'

1:48 was one of the few that wasn't dirty, he was diving for the 1st, he just dove into a wall

Yea had it not been head to head it would have been legal

He didn't dive. His foot got hit and he went down.
@bubbajack97385 жыл бұрын
The runner got tripped, and the defender thought he was dropping to initiate contact. So you really can’t blame the defender.

13:15 66 understood the assignment. That man saw red when that dude took a cheap shot on his QB.

Thanks for including some of the older clips. Most of the time these videos of "all-time" and "in NFL history" don't cover anything before generation z. Appreciate it!

7:23 I stand by the fact that Kick Catch Interference should ALWAYS result in an ejection.

Facts why hit a man that doesnt have the ball yet
@tylersellin84782 жыл бұрын
Surprised teams didn't do this to great returners like Devin Hester. I guess the NFL coaches are better than that
@kyleburgess7802 жыл бұрын
@@kingtut859 you really want more “referee discretion”? Sounds like a horrible idea to me. It’s either an automatic ejection or not. Don’t put more power in the hands of those clowns.

@@kyleburgess780 bro imagine trying to track and ball then fell the force of a semi truck it HAS to be an ejection
@nickmessner7002 жыл бұрын
Definitely. Dude is looking up tracking the ball, has no ability to defend himself, and the tackler is running full speed. That can't be tolerated.

The "hit" on Jim McMahon remains the dirtiest play in football history, to my knowledge. The fact that Charles Martin wasn't banned from the league for life is arguably the biggest travesty of justice the NFL has ever committed. He was only suspended for 2 games.
@EducationInHistory3 жыл бұрын
Could you imagine that today? He’d be up on charges
@MRB16th3 жыл бұрын
@@EducationInHistory Hell, I imagine a current day player would be arrested and escorted off the field after being ejected for that.
@maxash22813 жыл бұрын
Especially since McMahon had just had shoulder surgery
@MRB16th3 жыл бұрын
@@maxash2281 That makes Charles Martin even worse in my eyes: the bodyslam alone was completely uncalled for.

I've been watching football over 50 years and that was the worst I've ever seen, by far
