It never fails. After a tragic mass shooting, social media is filled with posts offering thoughts and prayers. Politicians give long-winded speeches on the chamber floor or at press conferences asking Americans to do the thing they’ve been repeatedly trained to do after tragedy: offer heartfelt thoughts and prayers. When no real solution or plan of action is put forth to stop these senseless incidents from occurring so frequently in a country that considers itself a world leader, one has to wonder when we will be honest with ourselves about that very intangible automatic phrase.

I agree with red flag laws, and if I become mentally incapacitated, I welcome my gun being taken. That said, what isn't being addressed is the illegal guns on the street. The reason why we see so much hate in this world today is because we refuse to follow God’s Word. Humans have free will. We can either disobey God AKA sin, or we can obey God and live a righteous life. God doesn’t want us to be robots. He wants us to choose Him because we love Him. That’s why He gives us the choice. No matter if we intentionally sin or unintentionally sin, it doesn’t change that fact that we have still sinned. Sin is still sin, and the wages of it is death AKA Hell. Because we are human, we do have the ability to mess up, so sometimes we unintentionally sin, and don’t realize we did so until after the fact. It’s okay as long as we repent and turn from that sin. Jesus doesn’t just forgive our sins, but He too forgets them. Other humans, Satan, and demons are who bring our past sin back up even after the fact of us saying sorry and not sinning again. That’s why it’s Holy Spirit filled people who are in prison for murder (who have since repented and turned to Christ) because people haven’t forgiven or forgotten their sin, even though the Lord has. If anything, the second amendment needs to be used to make gun ownership easier. Criminals don't care about the laws, so more laws gives them more advantage. Seeing people with open carry firearms needs to be more common place.
