@ 8:55 Using hoses instead of pipes for viessmann boilers apart from the only real benefit + probably a slight reduction in water noise in the installation: water goes through the hoses more easily there are other "Benefits": the hoses collect dirt from the installation + that's how you realize the installation you need to be cleaned. Connecting the hose to the back of the heat exchanger is another great idea from viessmann - it helps to keep you in shape ... + tests your patience

Good informative video Allen. I don't install viessmanns or really service them so I haven't seen the insides of many, it's really simple how the prv and condensate are joined within the boiler. Makes me wonder why other manufacturers don't do it. I think alpha are the only other manufacturer I can think of that do.

great breakdown of the boilers components, i got one installed in my house this past year. Recently the boiler locked up and gave me a F4 code, the boiler wouldnt fire up at all. the installer adjusted the exhaust flue so that it was on an incline and that fixed it it seems what could cause this to happen? The boiler wouldn't fire up before the exhaust flue was adjusted from horizontal to an incline, When it was installed the air intake and exhaust pipe were installed parrellel to each other with no incline and vented out the house, does that this make sense? Thanks great video!

Excellent video Allen if I remember right you dismantled this boiler sometime ago? It was the one with the red wax seal still on the gas pipe ? these are a great boiler to work on very easy to dismantle and bring back to life it’s just a shame people don’t service them properly you see so many where they haven’t even bothered pumping up the expansion vessel, after a good service and clean out they always run like brand-new again even if seven or eight years old I have just done a year nine service on mine and it still hasn’t got crunchy hoses yet! Up-to-date I have never had to buy any plastic grundfos components for these, The composite plastic on them is really brilliant not even prone to leaking

Has big issue with one very similar. One of the 4 pipe ones ( although the installer had blanked off the dhw primary pipes). Started with high limit fault. Changed the stat. Poor circulation. Called Viessmann. Advised by them to change the pump. Changed the pump head. Just as bad. Called Viessmann. Advised to check heat exchanger. Took it out flushed it, and the hoses , then all the hydraulic unit. Something looked wrong on the back of the pump casing. Asked if the disc was meant be at an angle ( not flat against the impeller). Put on hold, then I’m told that they’ve had problems with the block, and I’d need a new block.(£400 if we supplied it ). Client didn’t want the installer to come back as we were their service company and they didn’t want to open an account with the local Viessmann service agent. Very poor back up in my opinion. I’m sure the job had a massive loss on labour. Not my first choice of boilers.

Hi Alan another great down to earth educational video so question Maybe you could assist me with this question. I have been watching you dismantling several boilers and am trying to determine the following. Description of 'system type condensing boilers' , returning water from the system (radiators) enters into the 'Secondary heat exchanger' picking up 'residual heat' from the the 'flue gases' . Where exactly does the secondary heat exchange take place, I can only see the return water entering the main heat exchanger. Regards Dave Porter

This video should cover everything you need in great detail. Thanks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXrKeH6Vqdx2d5o
@kevincranfield52353 жыл бұрын
Secondary heat exchanger or recuperators sat between the fan and the flue exhaust outlet. They were joined via pipes internally to the main heat exchanger. Newer versions have a similar setup but rather than the primary water flowing through the secondary heat exchanger on the flue outlet, it is the mains cold water that takes the flue heat and then passes through the plate heat exchanger where the heat is topped up to produce hot water
@kevincranfield52353 жыл бұрын
The rubber hoses allow oxygen to be absorbed through them and therefore can promote iron oxide build up, but I had a little conversation with heat geek and he says the positive charge from the hydrogen particles in the water react with rubber and that is why they block up.

Great video . I here viessmaan now don’t recommend the use of inhibitors has they may rot the rubber hoses, When we had one fitted some 4 years ago , they were saying it’s essential to have the inhibiter in the system for the 10 year guarantee to be valid, now the goal post haven’t been moved they taken them away. Do you use the inhibitors or not . What areYou’re thoughts Allen .

Hi Allen, Great videos!. I have the hot water issue ( hot / Cold ) . I replaced the heat exchange plate, I cleaned the 2 rubber hoses, I removed "kilos" of muck but it still going hot / cold. Heating side works perfectly fine. The pressure going up and down ( between 1.2 and 1.8 ) when hot water is on, temp goes up , stops, then down, starts again... What else I could check?
@kpkp3492 жыл бұрын
Can anyone explain how the fan is 'proven' on the newer boilers without air pressure switches? I'm assuming that modern fans send a signal to the p.c.b. once they are running which can then carry on the sequence of operation. Any specific explanation would be much appreciated. Thanks.

hi allen how can i contact you? really need your help. rad wont heat up. been trying different things for 5 weeks but no luck. heres what ive done so far: 1. released air 2. removed air lock. 3. changed both valves. 4. used sentinelx400 and 800. 5. flushed system many times. once i took magna filter off, connected a hose and drained each rad individually but when i got to that rad pressure was rising but nothing coming out of return so i opened up another rad and water shot out! i suspect theres a blocage somewhere but pipes all all under floorboards! what can i do. is this something you would do? many thanks

It's quite frustrating when a customer or builder drains the system to put in or move Rads. On refilling the system most won't bother flushing or reinstating inhibitor. If the system is filled with standard mains water. It really does need inhibitor. The water standards in Germany only allow for deminerlised water to be put through their systems. The importance of good system water quality contributes to the longevity if the boiler.
@AllenHart9993 жыл бұрын
I went to Germany and asked them about the miff of demineralised water, They told me they use both methods, They also use inhibitors
