Thanks for the informative video on Rhinitis and Sinusitis. I am a Vietnam veteran that was wounded in the face/nose. I fought the VA for several years to increase my compensation for those conditions discussed in your video. My first award from the VA was denial. From there I progressed to zero and then ten, twenty. They kept throwing me some bones until I went away. Finally or at least something I was content with after fighting them for five years, I was awarded 30% plus 10% for scars. I guess I gave up at that point because i didn't know any better and I didn't know about title 38 of the CFR. Later I found out that I should have been awarded more because of the constant headaches. My medical records while I finished my service were filled with records of my headaches, issues with my nose that you mentioned in the video. I have a hole in my septum from the shrapnel that I was hit with. I am sure you realize the issues that I have dealt with over the years. Now I am tempted to file a CUE claim because the VA ignored all of my medical records when they finally gave me the award for 30%. Keep up the good work helping veterans by educating them and informing them about title 38 of the CFR. I need advice on CUE. Thanks

@CCK_Law Жыл бұрын
Thank you for tuning in! Allergic rhinitis can cause sinusitis because it can lead the nasal passages to become inflamed or blocked. When this happens bacteria can fester, often leading to infection and sinusitis.

I was rated as 0% on retirement, and then recently, I filed a new claim. They did an X-ray and it showed all clear, which is ridiculous, because my sinuses are blocked most of the year, I require daily medicine, and ai get infections at least 4 times per year. Not sure what to do at this point, except file another claim, and then when I go to the exam, not take my medicine so that it finally shows all the problems I have.

How long ago was the surgery? And what have your symptoms been like since? I just had surgery a month ago and just filed for increase, but within the last year I had many incapacitating episodes requiring antibiotics. Hello! Sinusitis can be claimed secondary to allergic rhinitis. Although allergic rhinitis and sinusitis share many symptoms, they are two separate conditions. However, allergic rhinitis can cause sinusitis because it can lead the nasal passages to become inflamed or blocked. Check out our blog on secondary conditions to allergic rhinitis here: cck-law.com/blog/va-disability-for-secondary-conditions-to-allergic-rhinitis/ Have a great day!

What about consistent nose bleeds? I had them cauterize my nose years ago to stop the bleeding but it never worked. Any time I get stressed out or if the water is too hot in the shower it will easily trigger a nose bleed. Since the VA already did a procedure on it, would that help in my attempt to get it added to my disability rating. I am currently at 20% for a completely unrelated issue.
