I just think the dealers now are just chancing their arms on pricing. Putting it out there with big price tags. But if people pay the prices, they will only increase. Things are only worth what people are prepared to pay.

Very interesting. I am not a collector in any way with my interests lying in modern history rather than articles. I am fascinated by the prices being achieved - as someone else has already said, supply and demand - and dismayed by other videos on YT detailing what seems to be the huge number of fakes being sold at fairs, knowingly, as originals. This guy knows his stuff clearly and can avoid the pitfalls that I would just fall into. That’s the benefit of years of experience. Here we are, 80 years since the start of WW2; are original items still being found? Are families selling off their parents/grandparents war clothing? Or is everything just really doing the rounds from collector to collector to seller to collector etc?

Check around first as those prices are way, way above what I have seen in Europe.. Genuine items of course..

I like the helmets that have battle damage. Especially the SS helmets, my father fought them in Warsaw. And Northern France.

Absolutely Ridiculous just how much this stuff goes for now!! Cant believe that I could have picked up a German Helmet for a few quid as a Child ..What a missed opportunity for investments ! 50 yrs ago this stuff was two a penny

Nice stuff and some items becoming rarer as you say, but the prices are so high with some dealers. I was also at the show and picked up two German helmets (DAK + Normandy camo half-basket) for much less after careful checking and negotiations.

Why does the speaker mispronounce the word decal? I looked and can find no reference that gives this pronunciation. Not in American English OR British English. It’s DEE-CAL not DEKEL Very annoying.

It's beautiful stuff, but how do young and new collectors afford this stuff? All these items are for the rich.
@bob3343 жыл бұрын
Start small. Maybe collect common awards and equipment, which are relatively inexpensive (but still have historical interest); and if you’re still collecting when you’re older, maybe consider purchasing some rare and expensive items such as the helmets.

Good advice is to shop elsewhere, regimentals is well know for over charging for almost everything. Maybe that vintage shops needs some help to get out of the gutter?

Nice collection. I’m a history buff (mainly WW II and American Civil War). I’ve always been interested in starting a collection. Unfortunately, I’ve always been afraid to be labeled “a Nazi”. There aren’t any white supremacists or Nazi sympathizers at these types of effects, are there? I’m assuming, just like everywhere else…there are crazies and lunatics in all walks of life.

Can we all please stop making comments about the prices Regimentals charge If you're not happy then buy from some one else These are all little pieces of history and if they help to keep the memories of what soldiers of all sides did then thats what really counts
