These Eagles were the eventual NFC champions and had the best record in their conference, yet the Steelers were able to push them around like a last-place team.

The Steelers were the rightful AFC representative. I know the "they cheated" narrative against the Pateiots is tired. But this was 04 and it was proven a couple seasons later that the Patriots knew all the Steelers hand signals, calls, and allegedly even had their playbooks.

@@1990Thunderbolt bruh, they had 9 pro bowlers, and a great defense. They beat the patriots, who were riding a 21 game winning streak, and the 7-0 eagles. Both teams made it to the super bowl. Pittsburgh had some standout guys like hines ward, troy polomalu, Joey Porter, and Jerome bettis

@@tynao2029 what? It was week 7 or 8. The eagles had not clinched anything. As far as being stronger..the Steelers won Two SBs in 2005 and 2008. This particular season the Steelers went 15-1 but lost to NE. I think you are confused with maybe the 80s because that’s the only decade you can say the eagles were stronger. Or maybe the past five years you could say that.

@@tynao2029 you obviously don’t know football. In the 90s the Steelers played in a SB and the AFC title game three times. Philly….zero. In the 2000s the Steelers won two SBs and played in three AFC title games. Philly played in four but lost three.then lost the SB. Steelers had the best record in the NFL 2004. Philly never had the best record that decade. I’ll stop there. There is a reason why the Steelers have won 6 SBs and Philly only one.

For some mind numbing reason, LeBeau who had changed his signals in game 1 v NE, went back to the old ones in the title game. NE had a spotter who would then tell offensive genius Charlie Weiss what D the Steelers were in.

The interesting thing about the NFC is I believe the it had suffered from the whole Dallas, Green Bay, 49er and somewhat Rams dominance. I remember the Giants lost their way during that time and Coughlin had to get them back on track. I think the AFC in the late 90’s decided to stick to physical football and it carried over. As a Giants fan I enjoyed the AFC games more.
