I have watched many episodes of portrait artist of the year and this one is my absolute favorite! I love hearing the artist struggle, I love seeing all of the mini paintings that he did before the final one! I love hearing Shy's struggle and seeing the comparison of his commission and the painting he did for himself. I've learned so many things as an artist! Especially not to be so hard on myself in trying to obtain that perfect painting! This has helped me on my journey to become a freer artist!. Thank you so much for this!

I am 65, and I remember as a child in Finland listening to Tom Jones singing on my sister's massive tape player. The reels were enormous, and one would have to get the tape started by hand onto the empty one on the opposite side of the player... Those were the days.

Nice portrait. I think a full portrait considering is struture, the way he's dressed, and that huge space; I believe would have been nicer. However, lovely!

The portrait strikes me as restorative, in that the artist seems to have recovered the face the sitter might have had if there hadn't been any cosmetic alteration - parts of his face don't move naturally, but in the portrait they do. Shades of Dorian Grey ...

Tom Jones recorded a version of "Burning Down the House" with Swedish pop band the Cardigans in the late 90s. It's fabulous! Check it out. Best comeback ever and a completely different sound.
