I was adopted out of foster care back in 93. I was one of those who nobody wanted. It was the best that happened to me. I love seeing stories like this.

My mom's grandparents adopted her after she was born, they drove 50 hours to adopt her from the hospital, and after they passed when she was 12 she had multiple foster parents who didn't care about her and until my grandparents and after I was born her and her adopted dad got a blood test because of me looking like him, more than my biological father, and she said it was kinda like a scene out of a movie when they were waiting for the test results because after the results came back as them being related she broke down crying because of her knowing who one of her birth parents is because her biological mother told her grandparents that a different man was her dad

I worked with kids that weren’t considered good fits for families. Each one of them was beautiful-each one of them had stories i still can hear. What I thought was the biggest disservice to every child was this strange need to not divulge what was really going on to a perspective parent. Frankly-most conscious people wouldn’t dream of doing less if they were adopting a pet. I’ll never understand it. If you give adoptive parents a real idea of the damage they are trying to heal-you’ll get parents with a real shot-and -obviously-they are out there. They don’t deserve situations where they are essentially set up to fail-your not buying a pair of pants-your taking on a whole full blown being trying to understand a pretty shitty world they landed in before you and -maybe-you got there in time or maybe you and your family were everything they needed being here. It sounds sanctimonious coming from a nobody me but you know who you are and who you have loved and what your real win is

Totally agree my adopted son has autism fasd and celbral palsy . Also have bio kids with disabilities. Yes I may lost one of my kids due to her epelpisy she give us love . and fostering and adoption is amazing but she was my bio child. I am autistic myself and see my kids as amazing just because some of u are Autistic doesn't mean we can't have kids as we can . I didn't get diagnosed till last year due to being in a cult

I remember watching this episode of EMHE when it first aired! I loved the adoptions that Beach Family did through foster care! It was really sad when they said that little Mercy died after getting their new house! But I hope that she can see, hear, breathe, eat, and run around with all of the other Angel children up in Heaven better than she could here on Earth because of her serious special needs!

This episode hits close to home as I was also in foster care. (Canada) and I just wish I wasn't PGA which means no going back to your parents. But as teens no one wants to adopt a teen with undiagnosed disabilities. And and anti social teen. So we had to live it out but I wouldn't change it. My foster mom did the best for us

I adopted four little girls, all sisters I wanted to keep them together and then come to Oregon I bought what I could to keep my children safe and I love them with abundance of love the moment I saw their little faces I was over whelmed It was such an incredible Feeling a feeling, I’ll never ever forget our regret with each day. Heartbreaking that Mercy passed away but at least it didn't happen while they were still living in the trailer; I don't think her amazing parents would have ever convinced themselves that living in such cramped conditions didn't have something to do with her death. She was so young, bless her, but at least she knew true love & had the joy of such a big, bubbly family around her, rather than having spent her whole life in a hospital bed all on her own. I was shocked when they said toward the end that a certain business had raised $100,000 toward their mortgage. That's hardly a gift if they have a mortgage. It would make sense to enjoy for a while until that money runs out then sell.

For example was there a family that took a three-times-mortage to try to run their own company and the buisiness failed. Anyway extreme makeover payed of the depts and medical bills of many, overtook the mortgages and all people had nothing before, because they had rotten houses. Later they had the value of a house. So don't believe everything you hear. Extreme make over was extreme successful and had many envious.

We, as normal people complain about little things and take many things for granted. This episode has truly humbled me and made me have greater faith in this world.
