Okay, so here's my theory: The video tells the story of a person living with depression, and all of its aspects. The first character (the one with the long hair) represents that moment when you feel powerless. She's in her house, there's dirty laundry ih her bed; the television is just showing random content while she's immerse in her thoughts. The mannequins represent her inner demons, which could be fear, panic, anxiety, etc. She can't get rid of them immediately, but she learned how to live alongside them; so she dances with them. Now the second character (the short haired one) represents the strength to fight, to go out there in the world, to burn your own demons (as shown), to be fearless and powerful. In the end, both of them meet and recognize each other, after all, they're the same, and they survive together.

I think that's really accurate!

Then why the short-haired Allie X burned the bicycles if that's one of the transport that could get the long-haired Allie X to go out there in the world? Maybe I'm thinking too deep in this.

I thought the same, the only thing I still dont get is that she is biking and then we see the bike crashed against the car that she drives herself in the end.

This song really speaks to me. After dealing with agoraphobia (the fear of not leaving the house) for almost two years, I really feel the lyrics. The line ‘these days, no ones bothering me bout nothing’ makes me realize how much I sheltered myself from everyone. I have this desire to attend nice parties and go out, but it’s a struggle. So many of the lyrics match how I’m feeling right now. Thank you Allie, I’m going to play this song everytime I try to leave the safety of my home so I can get my life back.

Mars I disagree, it's terrible what he did if its true, but she had to make the tough decision of getting recognized for her hard work through a top producer or basically remaining a nobody. She has been in LA since she was 19 and worked so hard to get signed and so hard writing her music whilst facing prejudice for being trans. I don't think its fair that you define her work by her producer as I have met her after a concert and she is a lovely person.

I think that's a song about inner self. The laundry is just a symbol of what we show to people, when we go outside the real world. When inside our mind it's sometimes old scars or fears we just feel. I think the video is showing that as well. The house is full of many AllieX, probably from the past, made from fears and sometimes glued back together (just like broken heart), but they are still there, not leaving. Even if outside there's fire everywhere. We sadly, always need these negative things in our minds, for becoming better. And on the end a new AllieX lands home, with her own style, tastes etc... But the song focus a lot on loneliness, about going to parties she would like to go, I think it's about, if you work on yourself, sometimes u have to left people, or even places behind, cause working on youself sometimes means to change things, becoming better. Even if sometimes it's easier to put on the old unfresh laundry, to please people, and feeling loved, when sometimes it's just an illusion. I was wondering if maybe AllieX was regretting the Supersunset era, but after thinking about it, it's more than wearing funky outfits or trying an 80's vibe. I think she is simply evolving and want to, like many of us, find herself, cause after all we all want to know who we are, why we have those lifes or to go. And the song sounds for me like wanting fresh laundry for a new beginning.
@seok.qt235 жыл бұрын
*The term "Dirty Laundry" usually references to the problems or regrets a person has. (People tend to hide away their dirty laundry, their shames and mistakes as well) Allie may be wanting new problems or things to feel instead of living a bland life. She wants Fresh Laundry, or in other words, a new chance.*

I believe this song/music video is an inner tale about depression/trauma about the outside world. The one with long hair represents the inner self locked from the outside world living with its own demons and traumas, even comfortable with all of it, while the outside world - the one with short hair - is calling for you, and on a deep level you also wants it but you don't know how to go there anymore, you're in fear, you feel yourself clean and protected from the outside while around you it's all messy and lifeless and you're so deep down to it that you don't even know who you are anymore. It's a very symbolic song and it speaks to me on a deep level. I lived for many years like this character in white, and it's painful, it's totally lonely, numbless.

I have watched the video twice and I currently believe that the version in the white gown is the spirit of the one that was run over by a car while cycling. In the end, however, the spirit, who in the meanwhile has gotten rid of all her previous (dead/ fake) selves, finds out that she is the one responsible for her own death. BUT hey! The chewing bit of the second Allie at the very end, which mirrors the gesture of the first at the beginning, reveals that no matter how much you try to develop, there's always going to be something that brings you back to what you are. Having said this, I love the camera angle while she is picking the glass from the washing machine, and the part where she walks on the earth in her white socks. I think I am going to watch it again. Allie, see you in Washington DC soon! And then in Milan!

i was doing my usual groceries today, and somehow youtube music recommended me this song. i've never listened to allie x before, and i listen to a lot of music, so i had no idea who this was. i had to stop in the middle of the supermarket, i couldnt move at all: there was a very specific feeling this song evoked in me, very specific, i have never felt it before. a form of resent, of suddenly being utterly aware at the hopelessness of it all. living, feeling, meeting people, forgetting people, life just fades away one day at a time, one forgotten friend at a time. it was overwhelming. what the heck is this feeling?

I almost fell over backwards when I heard this for the first time, it spoke to that time in my life so strangely accurately, it was my introduction to Allie X, I was cripplingly anxious all the time, I re-wore 2 oversized outfits repeatedly for months, my sleeping pattern was damaging, I spent almost all my time alone in my bedroom, my ocd was shifting from intrusive thoughts to cleanliness and always having fresh laundry, I was tense but slowly becoming more stable in myself, routine was my ‘best friend’, I entertained my demons and danced around them, but all I was doing was feeding them and giving them attention that they didn’t deserve, this song feels like a cathartic turning point, although it reminds me of living in the dark, I remember listening to this on a night drive to Starbucks in our pyjamas from where we used to live, really bittersweet now 🤍🖤 chins up everyone, everything is going to get better and easier with time, it’s ok not to be ok, surround yourself with your loved ones, laugh, share, let go of what you can’t control and be kind to yourself, even if it feels impossible, & I promise things will get better ♥️
