The past 8-9 days of anime have had some really sad episodes, but to me this hit the hardest.

It all clicked when he said 'It makes her happy when I make things.' with that flashback scene. His white hair and eye colour, combined with his talent for making things. The similarities between the flashback and the scene in the ED with them together. There were too many similarities for it to be a coincidence. Then the ending scene happened, which pretty much confirmed it. I absolutely love the storytelling in this series.

Those with an eye for detail may have noticed that when the bald Liviumen member tells the protestors that their leader Mizuhashi had died, the exact scene before that has their leader bedridden shows Mizuhashi’s mouth still clearly moving/breathing. There is some cut dialogue from the manga, specifically when the Liviumen are laying siege to the Immortal Order, where an Immortal Order member (one of the guys with a mustache) try to tell the invading Liviumen that Mizuhashi’s leg had been necrotic when she was originally admitted to the Immortal Order, and that if her leg hadn’t been amputated, she would have been at serious risk of dying. And it was more clear in the manga, but Hoshio (the woman on life-support), was the only person in the Immortal Order who had been afflicted with the same disease that Tarao and Mikura (the woman that Maru had been traveling with and Kiruko got the laser-gun from) died from. All the other patients were just people suffering from regular injuries and other maladies that Dr. Usami had treated over the years. Also those who have watched this series’ ED enough times may have noticed that this episode contained a neat visual parallel/reference to one of the visuals located near the end of the ED. And if it wasn’t obvious by the end of the episode, yes the insignia on the button Dr. Usami was holding before he killed himself, is indeed the same design as the one on Kiruko’s Kiru-Beam/laser-gun. For those interested in reading along with the manga, Episode 8 adapted the remainder of chapter 20 (19/32 pages), all of chapter 21, the first 7 pages of chapter 22 and then 5 pages from a different middle part of chapter 22 (so 12/24 pages), and then finally the first 6 pages of chapter 23 (6/30 pages). Total, this is equivalent to about 2.3 chapters worth of manga. According to Masakazu Ishiguro on Twitter, the remaining parts of chapter 22 had to be cut completely from the anime for like run-time related reasons (i.e. apparently they won't be included at the beginning of episode 9). And if anyone is interested in starting the manga after this season is finished (it is currently planned to adapt up to some part of tankōbon Volume 6 of the manga, likely somewhere in the range of chapters 34-37), I personally would still recommend starting the manga from the beginning regardless, as in addition to the standard cutting of extra dialogue and scenes from the anime for run-time and cinematic pacing, the chapter titles and cover pages of the manga also play a role in experiencing the foreshadowing of the story that the anime can’t quite replicate (due to the inherent difference in mediums). The mangaka of Heavenly Delusion, Masakazu Ishiguro (who is active on Twitter), their most well known previous work is “And Yet the Town Moves” (also known as Soremachi), which was serialized from 2005-2016. They have also done a number of other single volume manga and short stories collections. Ishiguro's has also stated that the major influences for the Heavenly Delusion series, include the works Akira, Armored Trooper Votoms, and an old Japanese science-fiction novel titled "Dogra Magra" that was written Kyūsaku Yumeno (who appears as a character in Bungo Stray Dogs) and published in 1935. And if anyone needs a refresher on the ages of the cast of characters: Maru is 15 years old, while Kiruko is mentally 18 and physically 20. The approximate ages of Tokio, Shiro (the white-silver haired teen who was sent the nude photo), Mimihime (the subject of said photo), Taka (the super strong/durable kid), and Anzu (the black haired girl who is good at dancing) are all 14 years old. The approximate ages of Nanaki & Iwa (the two kissing girls), Kuku (the frog-like girl) and Tarao (the sick and now dead kid) are all 10 years old. And Kona’s (the kid who draws the strange drawings) approximate age is 17 years old.

love the fact that there are no sad bgm or tricks to make you sad when MISS hoshio was watching the sky, just pure silent and with her breathing to make us diverse to her then add the part that miss hoshio and usami not talking to each other its like their ready for this to happen and dont want a sad goodbye but in the end it made us all sad with her last message fck😭 p.s adding miss to make everyone know its not usami's daughter since they got assume it is because of their illusionary view of her body structure being small but its actually big with cut off legs also i think its not her daughter because of the vibes their having its not daughter father relationship at all its like close friends with love for each other

@@tgburn6984 There has been clues throughout this whole series, in ep 1 or 2 she said she saw visions of a person with Tokio s face saving her. In an earlier episode she asked him if he wanted to cut her up and put needles into her. What Shiro said abt her being happy when he makes things was also a clue. And at the end of this ep, when she was trapped in darkness, Shiro came and brought her out into the light again, mirroring what happened this episode.

@@Viscord sorry. The idea of it happening was funny. Not the episode itself it indeed was heartbreaking
I've got a nagging feeling that Usami and Hoshino are actually Shiro and Mimihime from the school facility. Does that mean the two plotlines are not occuring at the same timeline? Is the school facility not some sort of bunker that survived the apocalyptic disaster? I thought the 'Heaven' Kiruko & Maru are searching for is the school facility. So why the uncanny resemblance between Tokio & Maru? Are they related? Is the sequencing deception faithful to the source material? I'm currently hella confused so please do spoil me.
