You have a true gift Michelle. Not just with your camera. But with your heart- it’s in the right place. That you can bring the viewer to feel compassion for this alligator mom. You elevated this from a video to an experiential story.

Thank you for watching! Yes, she is a protective, yet mild-mannered mom. It's such a shame that her little ones didn't make it this year. I watched her a couple years ago with her hatchlings and even with a missing limb she was able to take care of her young digging out mud to make a swimming hole and watching them during feeding time. ❤Thank you also for your thoughts about the hurricane - we're fortunate to have no personal damages. However, the reserve where I took this video is still under water. Hoping it will reopen in a few weeks and that the wildlife has found their way through this catastrophic storm.

Did you say that mother alligator is missing a limb? If so how’s that happen? And don’t the babies grow back limbs?

That is so sad. I feel so sorry for the poor mom. 😥🐊 How are you? Was your area hit hard? Do you have power and water? I've been watching videos from independent reporters and the devastation is absolutely heartbreaking. So many people and animals in need and the fed government is not helping anyone. Private helicopters trying to help people and are being told they will be arrested if they don't stop helping. Unbelievable. I hope you are OK. ❤️Edit: I saw that Governor DeSantis did a wonderful job in Florida but NC is suffering.

Thank you so much for your concern! We are doing fine and have power/water, but I feel so bad for other parts of Florida and other states dealing with so much right now. We had strong winds, but fortunately don't live in a flood zone so no water damage. The wildlife has been strangely quiet at the reserve and I havn't run across as many gator babies as I have in the past so I'm wondering if like this mom others with nests too close to the water have lost their babies due to flooding too. We're expected to have another hurricane in our area by mid-week. Hopefully, it will lose energy by the time it hits land this time. I have a friend on the west coast of Florida that has had to empty her home and is waiting for demo crews to get to work on her walls and floors. I don't think she or her house can handle anything more...uggh! 😪 Thank you again for your kind thoughts!
