We went on a very cool swamp tour by Cajun Pride in LaPlace Louisiana in August, and saw a ton of alligators. The guide would throw marshmallows to get the alligators to come closer to eat them.
Booking link for 2023 (includes Oak Alley Plantation tour): www.viator.com...
The tour guide contends that alligators are no where near the most dangerous thing in the Louisiana swamp. Instead he says a tall grass called cut-weed/cut-grass/saw-grass is the most dangerous thing in the area. He then goes on to say that the Disneyland Resort Alligator attack was not the Alligator's fault but instead the fault of humans involved.
There were raccoons as well, who were skittish in getting too close to the water because of alligators.
Later we even passed a creepy graveyard that contained the victims from a hurricane that struck and wiped out an entire town in 1915.
Everyone even got to hold a baby alligator and take photos with it.
I highly recommend this tour- very educational as well for the kids!

If I remember correctly, Louisiana currently has the biggest population of American alligators with over 2 million individuals. It almost makes me want to forget that in the 1970s, they would've been erased from existence if it weren't for conservation efforts.

Thanks for that info- it's good to hear that the conservations efforts in this case have paid off!

Hopefully these Gators don't develop diabetes from all those marshmallows! All joking aside this is a phenomenal tour, those are some seriously alligator infested waters. I would love to experience this one day. Thank you to the local guides for allowing for these experiences to happen and sharing their knowledge. Louisiana bayous are so mysterious, beautiful and off limits that outsiders would never be able to experience this without the locals offering these tours. And to all the negative Nancy's in the comments, no one's forcing you to go on a swamp tour, don't judge people that want to do this and no they are not putting children in danger. People go skydiving and scuba diving which is far more dangerous than what these guides are doing. The people that call these bayous home have my utmost respect and their Cajun culture, language, swamp lands are an absolute treasure of America that I hope to experience one day. - Love from Canada

they also live in florida, where they often go on golf courses. And the Amazon along side caimons and gharials their crocodilian cousins. And you can tell the difference between crocodiles and alligators by their snouts.

Seen a few of yours videos, I'm 20, been a childhood dream to visit the USA, and just going to book a Trek America around Utah/Az/CA and Nv for a month. I'm going to fly to another state before I leave for a few days, New Orleans looks perfect, historic and everyone seems so patriotic, would you recommend coming here or somewhere else near by in the US?

New Orleans was great- for sure so much history and culture, plus food with the famous eateries. I would certainly recommend it! The swamp tour was actually near Baton Rouge, which is not too far from New Orleans.

@southernwaysdesign7744 3 жыл бұрын
@@jedicomedy scares the he LL out of me , it is creepy nasty smelling waters and I would never trust any animal from the wild, number I could never be behind the wheel of that boat and out of the wild something would happen to any passengers I would always feel responsible and could not ever forgive my self for any danger to any one , next just seeing the little raccoons begging for food breaks my heart into and then always on my mind now does the 🐊 gators ever eat the raccoons ?? Things like this places a burden on my heart and the love I have for animals seeing this tour gives me the creeps makes my skin crawl, makes my stomach turn just to think I could be the cause of a injury of the spectator !! You could never pay me enough money to have that responsibility on my heart and shoulder never not worth it !!!! Always keep in your mind to not ever trust the wild life period and as much as I love my pets, the make my world turn that’s how much I love them like they my child BUT I never trust my animals and I never say no my animal don’t bite you never ever know what is their next thought? So Happy trailing to you all that enjoys and love’s this type of entertainment but it’s not for me !!! Be safe everyone out in the wild !!! You Never Know!!!

I understand the need for some type of income, I really do. But this, just isn't right! I see nothing good in the future of this enterprise. You scream, I scream, police are called, it's awkward. Ya know, I wonder if the court will recognize them as wild animals, or a trained pet? Ya know, that future law suit waiting to happen! Some creatures are just not designed to be pets! " I'm sorry sir! but alligators are not allowed on the plane! " Hey, it's my support animal, and it's on a leash okay!

I see someone has definitely not lost their mind I absolutely agree with you this is so really insane and I would never put my liability out their jeopardizing someone’s life for my income !! Better way to make a living than to say hop on your jail bait any moment?? Your on your own taking a trip like this putting your child in danger ? So anyone owing this type of revenue needs their head examined!!! Anyone planning a trip like this plzz don’t put your flesh and blood in danger stop and rethink a trail ride like this!!! If you think it’s safe you need your head examined!! I desperately love my love ones more than this trip !!
