We have paddled many springs and I have dove many, as well. There is one memorable one for alligators, however. We put in at Kings Landing in Apopka and started down Rock Springs run. Our takeout was at the Wekiva Island, just past Wekiva Springs. This was not a short paddle! After about an hour we started seeing alligators on the bank. A lot of them. Some stayed there and some didn't. They went in the water bc that's where they feel safe. We even got bumped a few times as they swam under us. My GF was unnerved, to say the least. I was not as they weren't threatening. After a while, we were past this gator zone, if you will. At the end, after a quiet tranquil paddle down, we started hearing partying noises and came across the party of people and dogs even jumping in. Quite a contrast. We have also been down Weeki Wachi many times and I only saw one small one around Alligator Island. Good help here with your post, thanks!😊

And every now and then you may find an alligator a ways from a water source......like 6 years ago seeing one "resting" on the San Felasco (Gainesville) mountain bike trail, but that was once in about 50 visits, so I still give it a 1/4 out of 10 🙂

Thank you for all these locations. I really don’t want to run into any alligators. They make me nervous!

cool vid but why do so many say "able to" for no reason? We line up at 5 to get into a park, not to BE ABLE TO get into it....Just sayin!
