That is so neat that you have had this since new! The D-15 is my favorite vintage tractor. I got the "D-15 bug" back when they were new. As a youngster I would crawl all over these at the local A-C dealer whenever my father was buying parts, etc. I remember I would beg him to buy one but he stuck with his WD-45. Bummer!! So I bought one nearly 55 years later! What's so cool about yours is that it can be used as a reference when restoring mine. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

I used one of these from the late 70's to mid 90s, mostly pulling a trailer or carry all to feed dairy cows. really liked the hi/lo lever. This thing would crank when everything else was frozen in place.

It does start good in the cold weather. We use it to feed small squares.

One of my favorite tractors, ours had a snap coupler so we could share implements with our two WD45.

I just commented on your 6080, we have some of the same equipment! I guess it depends on having a good dealer? The cream steering wheel doesn't mean power steering, it's easy to tell when you have a trip bucket also!! Ours was a New Idea. We had the snap coupler with a solid drawbar. No front weights, but we had a large one piece rear weight, was told it was 215 lbs, which it really needed. We had the bucket seat only, I like yours much more. You had your hand on the power director dipstick in front of the rear end dipstick. The power director takes their power fluid oil, 721 or something close. Our D15 SII spent it's life on the haybine, little baler, planting, loader, and bringing in loads of maple sap. We still use her today, she's upwards of 7,000 hours and the cream color has mostly worn off! A neighbor had over 10,000 hours on their's ten years ago.

We had a large local dealer and a smaller one close by. Our county still has a lot of Orange tractors out and about. Our tach before getting rebuilt was stuck at 4700 and some hours. Hard to tell how many hours it has as it was the main tractor for 14 years until the 6060 came along. Did everything we needed. I was jealous of some of the nearby farmers with the big tractors but they are long gone and the D15 is still going.

I think the D17 was also four weights on the rear rims. The D19 had six weights on each rear rims

@@charlie175 the D17 also had the same donut weights as the WD45. We had the D17 series 1 and had the same rear weights as the WD45

That looked like a NH 451 mower attached to it. NH made a lot of outstanding implements but the 451 3 point mower wasn't one of them.

What was wrong with them? This one works good since new
@robertlong7033 Жыл бұрын
@@charlie175 In heavy hay such as red clover it piled up on the inner shoe or if you tried to compensate by doing a number of things including switching tractors it would pile up on the outer shoe. Light grass it would perform satisfactory but in high tonnage hay it was a total failure. Even the dealer tried to correct the problem with little success. Final solution? Trade it in on a Haybine . Problem finally solved.

ever use the sickle bar on the d10iii? how did it handle it? have chance to get a ac80r3 or new holland 451 just asking
@charlie1752 жыл бұрын
Yes I use the 80r3 on the D10. Does well with it. Only issue is the turn radius on the D10 isn't that sharp.
@charlie1752 жыл бұрын
Haven't tried the 451 on it. That requires a bit more setup. Parts would be more available for the 451
