Allis Chalmers Plow - 3 Bottom

We just bought a "new" 3 bottom Allis-Chalmers #2 plow and hauled it from Kansas to Utah in the back of a Chevrolet pickup. This plow won a plowing competition held by the National Agricultural Hall of Fame. #farming #allischalmers #antique #tractor #plough

I remember my Dad taking the plow shears (Canada) to the Blacksmith to get built up and re-pointed. The Blacksmith had a pretty big forge and a belt driven hammer machine that made a pile of noise. I loved watching the part with that hammer, a sound you never forgot! I don't recall if that was the only device, there were shafts and pulleys up in the rafters driving the hammer. He had a big AC powered Lincoln welder that had a vertical motor, sort of bullet shaped (oval at the top). That thing was something to hear when he hit the "On" button and i still wonder what Model it was. The Blacksmith had been a soldier overseas in WW2. The one thing i do remember about plowing with our JD G-----the gut-wrenching experience of hitting a buried rock and tripping the spring-loaded device on the plow's draw bar. I don't recall the make of the plow.

Nice plow, great tires, rolling cutters look great. Most plows like this are usually well worn. I live south of Topeka about 50 miles.

Excellent video Jonelstar :) also shocking in 1996 my dad & uncle (his older brother) had single plow pull by horse was Massey Harris No #5 my grandfather on my dad bought in Massey Harris plow manufacturer company in next east town over from we live on Home farm in rafters of old machinery shed made in 1912 and had not been used since 1960 ! That Massey Harris plow manufacturer is a retirement since 1968 called Golden Plough and shocking yes and that plow in a Mesumn now ! Also a plow like you dad pick up my late Dad & late Uncle Bill a McCormick International 6 plows plus 6 disks was drawbar one had same like that also steal wheel on back bought in 1957 and my dad also his brother got $500.00 in 1996 for there's!

That's ridiculous that an auction outfit gets that kind of fee. They should get a percentage of what it went for, not 90% either! I grew up going to lots of auctions but i understand some charge both a selling and buying fee these days.

@@wayneepp5287 wow! I just assumed you would be able to find one for the same price as a ribbed front tractor tire, which I've bought online for around $100. But I'm not surprised it's that expensive either.
