Hey for the bangs I recommend spraying with dry shampoo cause I have a similar thing my hair has oily roots and in heat obviously sweat and stuff too. Dry shampoo helps a lot!

The dean at my daughter's graduation ceremony said in his speech, "Don't worry about what ONE thing you're going to do/be after graduation; you don't have to do/choose just one thing, but can choose to be many/more than one at the same time." You can do one thing. Or you can do one thing plus another thing, or you can do one thing and then do something else after that thing or three things at the same time lol...There's no reason to feel that after graduation you have to make this big decision that you're going to be stuck with for the rest of the life because your world is your oyster, girly. :)

"I don't have a dream" - I felt that in my soul. That has been me my whole life - I have come to realise that I find most of my happiness from very small day to day moments and that you don't need to have a dream to enjoy life (despite freaking out about it every once in a while lol). I'll be living it up in Tokyo for 2 months next Summer and I can't wait to just eat, shop and take photos every day (oh and sweat......). Great video

12:58 So this is where the "Gotcha" machine in Kirby and the Forgotten Land originated from. (And 20 years earlier, Super Smash Bros. Melee had a trophy-dispensing machine that worked exactly the same way... and it was likely not the first video game to feature the concept) When I was kid we had something kinda similar at our local Kmart (now closed, like all the other ones nowadays). It was a gumball type machine that dispensed little plastic replicas of NFL team helmets. You put a quarter in, turned the crank, and hoped you got the helmet for a team you didn't already have. I'm pretty sure I eventually got all 28 teams (this was back in the early 90s... today there are 32 teams). Unfortunately I no longer have the collection, I think I gave them away. But I did learn who all the NFL teams were from an early age.

As someone that can relate to not having a goal, things did just work out. I’m in my late 20s and I found a job that allows me to pursue my passions outside of work. Work is not my passion and that’s ok. It’s a means to figure out what I want. Try out everything - that’s what your 20s are about. I discovered your channel today planning a Japan trip for next year. I very much appreciate your content!!

Don’t fret too much about not knowing where you want to go with life after graduation! My entire childhood I wanted to be a zookeeper. I was in college for it and did an internship at the zoo I was working at. I HATED it. I was so upset that the job I wanted my whole life was not a good fit for me. I felt like a total failure. I ended up switching my major from zoology to marketing and now I do marketing at the zoo! Photography and videography are my favorite things and I get to see the animals every day. It all worked out in the end but I did have a little span of freaking out about my life.

I relate so much to the feeling of not knowing what comes next. Having a dream and then achieving it, and then being left like... what now?!?! I'm finally moving to Tokyo in October (which has my been my dream for like 4 years now) and I'm so terrified that as soon as I actually get there I'm gonna freak out about no longer having a life goal to work towards. 🙃 ps. Thanks for another lovely video, you've quickly become a comfort KZbin channel for me, I always look forward to watching your videos! X

Statistically, most people are unhappy with their chosen career path. It kinda makes sense. When we’re young, we know absolutely NOTHING about the world - aside from what we see in media, and in those we meet; and we think we know everything. Yet at at only 18 years old we’re supposed to pick a degree that we’re supposed to pursue, AND succeed in, AND enjoy working in, for the rest of our lives? pffft. No wonder most are unhappy. Finishing your degree is a major point in life. Like retiring, or starting a new job, or moving to a new city. These points in life are a nexus to other things. We have the rest of our lives to either be happy, or miserable. The choice is ours. Take your time! There’s no rush. When in doubt, take some time off, and travel! :-)
@AllisoninTokyo2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, when I was in undergrad I changed my major like 5 times and still wasn’t completely satisfied 🥲 too much pressure…i agree, need to not rush into it 😭
@Chuck85412 жыл бұрын
@@AllisoninTokyo I have a few degrees and they were expensive, and I finally paid them off…but I never even used them. I fell into a job online that pays the bills, allows me to travel, and do what I want every day. So when I think of all the years of academic stress, and papers, and deadlines, and student loan repayments…it’s like, ‘WelL, THAT was pointless!’. lol I feel like, happiness is a feeling. Just like we can’t force ourselves into falling in love, we can’t force ourselves to be happy. All the logical planning in the world doesn’t guarantee happiness. Hakuna Matata! :)

Your hair looks so smooth in this video! I am suffering the frizz so badly this summer, it's so humid here. Congrats on being so close to graduation!! That's amazing! As for dreams, they can come from anywhere. I also didn't have one for the longest time and I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do with my life, I think it's okay to figure it out much later. I went back to undergrad at 24 because I want to do JET (I have 3 semesters left! I'm so close!!) , but after that I'm still not sure what I want. I think that's fine because I have time to figure it out and things I want to do in the meantime. You'll figure it out when you're ready!!

I think the new longer bangs suit you well! It is annoying when they grow out but give it time it's easier to manage. When they get long enough you can brush them back into a half ponytail and it's really helpful to keep off of your face. And cute! 😊 Thank you for.your content and congrats on finishing the semester!

Heya Allison! Amazing video as always! Congrats getting your term paper done! 🌟 I’m almost finished university as well so I know the feeling! 😆 I think your hair looks beautiful both with bangs and with the bangs grown out! An idea if you don’t know what to do though is curtain bangs, you can easily push them out of the way on hot days, but then cover up when you want to! :)) Also I get what you’re saying about dreams and stuff, I really felt that during uni. I’m studying animation and I felt like everyone else had their goals and knew exactly what they wanted to be / do, meanwhile I felt so lost. But trust me it gets better! Give yourself time and enjoy the time you have left with Grad school! Figuring out this stuff is what your 20s are all about after all! 🌼✨

Your hair looks cute as it gets longer! But I know what you mean about the bangs, I’m tempted to cut mine as I grow them out. They’re like in the awkward stage. Also as a 32 yr old “adult”, I still don’t know what my dream is. It’s changed so many times. I think doing what’s fun is most important. Having a job that is bearable and pays yours bills while also letting you enjoy your personal life is important. 💕

I like your bangs as they are, I think it is better than cut. I had the same issue not long ago and I feel that I don't know what to do with them either. If you don't mind sharing, what is your thesis going to be? Good luck on it! Also try not to stress too much about what you will do next, keep an open mind to possibilities :) As always it was great to see places, like the afternoon tea! SO cute! We have a little tea place in my town and I feel lucky that its here at all. It is so cute, it's called Sugar Mouse and they make cupcakes too.

I’m nearing 40 and my dream since culinary college (as a teen mind you) has been to study food/cook in Japan. 😒 I have kids and a husband that doesn’t want anything to do with Japan (even for vacation 😐) while going has been my dream for nearly 3 decades (and my older son keeps asking to go, and he’s learning korean so asks if we can go to Korea too). I’d love to buy an akiya, I’ve never had a corporate job, and I’d do it right now … but I have kids and don’t want to mess up their childhoods. … maybe you don’t have a “big dream” because you’ve done so much. You’re doing what I think a lot of us look back on and say, why didn’t I just DO IT.

I think your hair looks really cute in a ponytail! Summer in Japan is absolutely unbearable so I only ever wear my hair in a ponytail or a bun to stay cooler, and I never cut bangs. But unlike you, my hair is so wavy/curly so it gets really poofy and frizzy. So I’m a bit jealous of you and your straight hair haha. Also, that dress you wore to afternoon tea is so cute and it looks lovely on you ☺️

My uncle was stationed in Tokyo in the 80's. He told me there was a guy who rode around on a bicycle at night selling hot sweet potatoes. He would hear him yelling out "yaki imo!" nearly every night. He said that and the public phones were the weirdest thing he ever saw while he was there.

With your bangs, if you want to grow them out why not pin them up on top of your head? I used to do that when I was growing mine out and I would leave the rest of my hair down, creating a cute hairstyle. You could use a cute headband even if you prefer that to clips.
