Paint is a miracle worker. You picked one of my favorite colors. When you’re ready to add some color, take a look at Sherwin Williams “Sea Mist”. It’s my #1 go to. Looks like pale green going on, but can also look blue in certain light. All of my bedrooms are this color, and I never get tired of it. I’m watching these videos out of order, so Bucky might have made his appearance earlier, but it was good to see him hanging out! Madeline is getting so big! What a cutie!

I tore out carpet in my house cut in strips too. A hint for you I used a shovel to remove tacks and strips. Worked great and saved my back at 70 yrs old. I'm now 90 and still miss painting walls

Love a fresh coat of paint! It makes older homes fresher & more up to date. Our home was from the late 80's (wood wainscoting & wallpaper wallboards) - so light grey walls (darker shade for accent places) & left the wainscoting because it was a very dark wood tone (dark walnut) - much more modern with traditional styling of furniture,...

I’d give anything to have marble window sills! My traditional ranch was built in the mid 60’s and our sills are wood. More upkeep on wood then marble. Several of our sills need to be removed, sanded, restained and sealed.

You might need to paint the paneling with Kilz due to the tannin that might bleed through the paint.

That is true my old family home had paneling like this that we painted white and it did bleed through

We had the same type of issues and it was suggested that we have professionals clean the air ducts throughout our home. It was so amazing the dirt that came out. I felt so much better knowing that was something that could be done. It helped me mentally also.

Spray Go-Gone on it and let it sit for a few minutes, be patient, it works and will not strip the hardwoods.

You really should prime the walls before you paint if the walls haven’t been painted before. I made that mistake before and my paint started popping off.

Allison, I have a question. Is your window sills marble? It's hard to see. It looks like the same marble from the 50s-60s that's in my house. I hate them. I saw you painting yours and, wondering if the paint is staying on?? We have a mid century home as well. We've been living here almost 20 yrs and still working on it/updating it. I don't think I'll ever get finished!.😢😂 Love your house. Hope you see this comment. 🙂
