Oh I’m glad you said you’ll save some for stock for next grow time, I have some I wasn’t sure if I can resow 👍👍. Excellent haul of garlic and shallots woody. I’m not positive but I thought hard neck had a strong straw like stem in the middle. Great fig harvest too. Have a super week and happy gardening 👩‍🌾, Ali ☁️🌞🇨🇦

Hi Ali Yes, I just pick out the biggest and best shallots for replanting in autumn ( hopefully then I can keep them going ad- infinitum 😉) Yep, it seems from the comments that it is soft neck garlic, so I will have a go growing that. Figs done really well despite the cool, damp weather 😀. Have a great week ahead too my friend ❤️

Great harvest of shallots, Woody. 👍You should make it through the winter, I think. The garlic looks like softneck to me. A hardneck has few cloves and only in a single row around a stiff stem. A Softneck lacks the stiff stem and has several cloves, usually in 2 rows around the center point. Looks like you have had a good season despite the rainy weather. Have a nice weekend💚

Hi Benni Yes I'm very pleased with the shallots. Thanks for the information on the garlic. It's been a pretty good year, but not without problems ( I just noticed that my radishes are full of caterpillars 😂). I hope you are keeping well my friend ❤️

Hello Woody. What a wonderful harvest of produce, excellent Shallots, they certainly are worth growing. It will be interesting to see how the Garlic perform. looks like you will be eating French beans for the next twelve months. Those Figs look tasty, enjoy. Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers 🍻Pete.

Hey Pete! Yes, we have two large bags of french beans in the freezer already ( will do another batch today) . Yes I'm keen to see how that garlic does 😉. I've managed to get most of the figs before the blackbirds! They go bonkers for them. Have a great week ahead mate Cheers 🍻👍

Nothing to beat fresh Figs , mmmmmm. How much do Figs sell for . If only we had plantations of Figs . I think its going to be a good year for Figs as I have seen alot of laden trees in the London area

Yes, it's hard to beat a fresh fig, I agree that it is a good year for them. My mate is getting £3 for four on his stall. Thanks for stopping by 👍👍

Hi matey, the beetroot leaves look like verticillium wilt?? Also in future if you notice it happening earlier, check the leaves for small blisters or insect tunnelling as this could be Beet Leaf Minor. Would like to see a demo of the air fryer tomato method…. sounds delicious. A great return on the shallots. The only way I know of garlic types is when they are growing. Hardnecks usually have a tall stiff centre stalk as opposed to softnecks which are all leaves. Cheers… Nigel

It's a curious one mate, I get leaf miner every year these days, but not seen the brown dried up leaves before. Yes, everyone else is for the garlic being 'softneck' 😉. Might do a 'short' on the air fryer tomato method 😀 Cheers mate 👍

Those are soft neck for sure. Those are good seed bulbs, great buy. You can feel if it's hard neck, they have the solid stick in the middle. I never grow them, I only do soft neck ones.

The figs look great Woody, I'd want to leave those on a few more days so I bag them in mesh bags, seems to keep the birds and wasps off so far 🤞

Tbh Brett I don't have the time to bag them ( great idea though). I find they will ripen further in the house in a few days. Only a few left on the tree now; it's been a good year 😃 ATB 👍

Looks like a fungal disease on the beets, just cut the leaves off to about 1” and they will regrow just fine

out of all the garlic i've ever grown, the softneck garlic has always had tighter formed cloves. hard necks have always been splayed apart slightly because of the scape growing through the centre. yours looks to be softneck, mate................brian
