The Allman Brothers Band kills it with Jimi Hendrix' 1983(A Merman I Should Turn To Be), and their own Mountain Jam at thr Beacon Theater RIP Gregg and Butch 2017

Possibly the most underrated rock song of all time.

Didn't know the Allmans did a cover of this. This is my favorite Hendrix tune. I practically wore out side 3 or Electric Ladyland in High School.

Warren and Derek seamlessly trade back and forth. Neither is better than the other and together they are untouchable. It isn't a competition between them , but a collaboration. Every musician on the stage is a master. Epicly pure gold.

Who else but Warren would think of mashing up these two tunes, and like this? Brilliant. Each points toward then carries you away, away toward something other-worldly. Brilliant also is the interchange between Warren and Derek that commences around the 20 minute mark. The camera work is, ahh, yes, you know what I'm going to say, it's brilliant. It's all brilliant. Brilliant as in it lights my soul, makes me smile. Brilliant! Thanks!

First there is a mountain, then there is no mountain, then there is. Basic geology. These people definitely carry the Allman Brothers Band forward.

Jimi would have loved it, not a copy, Allman's doing their own thing with his song ( tune )

Hey Butch you could use an area rug. C'mon man! In the groove, yeah. ER, sorry Warren. Seriously fun and free from seeking anyone's approval. It's a dreamscape and you take it where you want with that riff. I was 13 in 72 and when I listened to this sometimes, I imagined myself at the top of the hill at Heritage Park with the volume stretching out over the people on the hill, thru the park and into the neighborhood. It was all in my mind but this sound painting as Jimi called it washed over me and all the rest of the people taking us to a blissful place free of any picayune b.s. or bigotry. No gaps. Aah, to be young and to live in that imagination. But it was Jimi reaching for it in his mind transposing it with Eddie Kramer to where, so many years later here is an Allman Brothers take on it. Amen.

Wow! The Allman Brothers playing Hendrix. How absolutely incredible.

Grateful that this just popped up for me thanks to the algorithm. Great to see many feel the same as I do about this being their favorite Hendrix tune. This one makes me winder where Jimi would have gone musically had he lived.

ABB in 3 weeks at Interlocken. Saw them for the first time at the Fillmore East in February 1970 (with the Dead and Fleetwood Mac). Still hittin' the note.

one of the extremely rare songs done as well as can be by anyone other than the master himself!
