The first time I saw this I though the same, but now I think, besides paying the price of his mistake, he did it also because he knew, as long as he his conscious, he is a liability. Luffy will not attack back as far as Doflamingo is controling him, but now he's free, it's just fare for Luffy to punch him since Bellamy is willing to accept it.

The reason why doflamingo hates bellamy is because bellamy decided to leave his peaceful and wealthy life because it was boring and wanted to be a pirate, while doflamingo was forced to leave his wealthy and peaceful life as a celestial dragon and to live with the "lowly people". Which resulted to him being a pirate which he didn't want at all. So basically bellamy left a bad first impression to doflamingo which is why doffy treats him like crap, while law left a good first impression to doflamingo and that's why he wanted law to be his right hand man when he grew older. That's my take on it.

Exactly. Power and freedom are the most important things to doflamingo. He had that the moment he was born, and by no fault of his own, all that was taken away from him. So he cannot identify with someone who would willingly give up something like that, even if it was less that he had. A lot of people in Mingo's crew had bad lives. So whether he genuinely cares about them or not, he can at least relate to someone who's so pissed off thst they just want to hurt everything around them.

Doflamingo means that Bellamy has always been free, but he's lived as if puppeted by Doflamingo. Doflamingo knew that Bellamy wouldn't go against him when he let him go, it was just more smug lording over. Doflamingo gave Bellamy his sign on the condition he'd never lose and so that's what his whole pride/pirating career was based on. When he lost that and lost his crew he was shattered, but as a result of meeting Luffy was able to turn that all back into a legitimate dream. Losing Doflamingo is essentially losing everything to him, and so he wants to continue through his bad mistake out of self punishment and a samurai like sense of honor, and more importantly because Doflamingo said weaklings can't choose their way of death and now Bellamy's trying to do that through a rejection of Mingo's philosophy/assertion of agency. Also Doflamingo hates Bellamy because Bellamy was privileged and chose to be a pirate out of love for pirating (kinda like Luffy, except Luffy had shanks) while Doffy was forced to be one.

Rewatching this now I actually feel like Doflamingo might have been resenting Bellamy a bit more than he let on. I wonder if he saw Bellamy blatantly imitating his style and mannerisms as distasteful. This video is a few days old so you probably won't see this comment anyway, and you may already know this to begin with, but Doflamingo's family is almost entirely made up of people who came from poor backgrounds (in some of the databooks, Oda has mentioned that Trebol - and Buffalo too if I remember correctly - were starving, Diamante was poor, Sugar and Monet were in a "dangerous environment," etc.) so when they ask where Bellamy is from and he specifically says he's from a wealthy country, they already know he doesn't belong with them. I don't know if people literally HAVE to be from a poor background to be allowed into the crew or anything, but that question of "where are you from" being included in the scene makes it likely.

Yeah, Miss Valentine. She has the Kilo Kilo fruit and Machvise has the Ton Ton fruit. I remember Oda answering a question about similar fruits in an SBS. I think the main difference is that Miss Valentine can also reduce her weight, allowing her to essentially float above an enemy and then increase it so she goes crashing down. I guess Machvise can just jump really high.
