I went today and when I got there it was covered in snow and freezing. I felt like a fool as it’s a long walk and all uphill, I sat on my frozen bench wondering why I hadn’t stayed home and made the most of my morning off work…Then the robins arrived and sat waiting for me to crack out the food ( my robins are all called Bob )! After filling up the feeders and watching them enjoying themselves , I was even inspired to do a bit of digging despite the snow, as there’s nothing they love more than a bit of freshly dug earth for the worms. I fell over a few times, but frankly there was nobody else there so you know, Bob wasn’t judging.

The reason I watch your channel is because you are real about your allotment gardening, it's OK watching famous gardeners but everything they do works and is perfect which isn't how it is, but you record things how they are wether that's good or bad and it makes me feel better about my gardening journey especially when things don't go right for me ! Never change 😊❤

lovely video again Emma! I'm a stay at home with a cuppa tea person so far this month, but did go to home bargains and seen they've got the Dee Ree seed display out- loads of types out all 49p a pack, which is fun :)!

I replaced the felt on my shed roof last year and this week I have been creating a new bed in an area which was previously very weedy. Love your channel Emma!

On a week of holiday/sick leave at the moment with sciatica playing up. Tho I braved the garden this morning to refill the bird feeders and having a look around. I need to prune my gooseberry bushes, and tidy up some strawberry plants first and foremost. Everything else has to wait until it gets a bit warmer again, like not sub zere temperature. And as I barely can get much sleep I am binge watching your channel from the start. Last night/this morning was the shed building episodes. And I am amazed at how little was in your plot then compared with now. You did an amazing job.

I feed the birds every day too. I can hear them chattering to each other as I walk down the garden. Makes me think of Einstein waiting for his mealworm. Some good tips Emma.

Emma, you are supposed to soak those bare roots in water before planting to rehydrate them. They should have come with detailed instructions. Hopefully those plants of yours will do okay. They might be a bit slow starting. Looking forward to spring!

Good evening Michelene from Sunny and hot Cape Town. I would love to see as an experiment in one or two of your beds to sew a winter cover crop and see how your soil reacts to a cover crop. You could chop and drop it and see when you sew summer veg in it how it does. Just a idea it might be to late for it but l would love to see if it keeps the soil alive. Love your work ❤

Do not prune cherries, plums or other stone fruit at this time of year, but great to prune apples, pears and gooseberry, and currant bushes. Happy growing 🙂

You shouldn’t smash the ice on your pond. When hitting the ice especially when it’s thicker sends shock waves through the water and could kill the animals what live in the pond
