I think the reason she get a lot of hate because of how she handles Donnie's obsession with her like in season 3 episode 2 where Donnie is about to learn his wrong doings on April and taking the L knowing she won't like him back she instead kiss him on the LIPS driving fans in confusion but worst of all in that same season after Donnie's supposed character growth on his crush (I forgot the episode) when Donnie is showing off on April she instead ignore as if his not there.

This is by far my favorite version of April O’Neil: She’s sweet, smart, strange, tomboyish, brave, stubborn, feisty, and despite it not occurring to her a lot, she’s incredibly beautiful with a nice indie rocker vibe. I love her style and her fighting style. Once, I wore my shorts over my tights and yellow headband like her for a while. I also admire how well she uses her psychic powers and Tessen. And while others say Karai is a master kunoichi, I’d say April is just as beautiful and dangerous as her-if not more beautiful and badass. And despite not showing much affection towards Donnie, she still considers him her best friend. I love April O’Neil and will always be my favorite kunoichi with psychic powers from the Hamato Clan ❤❤❤❤

I'd add Precognition, Clairvoyance, Mental Blast, and Telekinetic Blast to her powers. Her Tessen Fan, and blaster should be added under weapons. Markswoman could be added under her skills. She also has a space suit and jumpsuit under equipment. And her endurance, agility, and reflexes are more peak human than super. And two weaknesses being her eventual addicted to the Aeon crystal and her psionic powers take a lot of her energy.

April could’ve been great if the writers didn’t make her such a Mary-Sue pick me the whole show. She always had to involve herself and get into trouble because of it but she never got backlash because of it but anytime someone else made a mistake it was a huge deal. Her training as a kunoichi was so short when she wasn’t even good at all and at the end she was still unable to do anything without her powers. With April they added plot twist after plot twist after plot twist making her a damsel in distress for most of it. I’m not even going to bring up Donnie because everyone already knows about it. She always had to be right always had to be the center of attention when she was involved. Her story was actually pretty damn good but her character is so butchered and just not good at all. She wasn’t funny she wasnt even nice to the turtles a lot of the time, she played to much and was praised for doing the bare minimum even if she caused a situation in the first place. Story: Great! Character: Insufferable
