Thank you Connie, we are heading into triple digits this weekend and for the next week so hopefully it stays looking great. We get one more week of 90s after that, then its off the scorching temps for a few months.

So glad to find your channel. We are in the same zone and we live in the San Tan and have to deal with the HOA so sometimes I have to be careful what we put up. I am 80 and my husband and I had Covid two months ago which messed up my planting schedule. Now I feel so far behind and have to start thinking of Fall planting. The Okra idea was very interesting, and I will try that. I so thank you for your videos because they give me hope through the 110 plus weather and the monsoon we experience here.

So happy for your family.. all good things. I have long beans.. they climb up.. and yes they are LONG and go really fast. One day it's still a baby.. wait 2 days and it's maybe too big. They produce for me almost all summer.. and seem to do a second larger production in sept and Oct. The last beans I leave and pick when crispy and save those seeds for next season. Hope yours do as good as mine. Be wary NOT to plant near other beans if you seed save like me to avoid mix of variety. Did you do onions or garlic? Mine are thriving.. but I've never been sire on time to harvest and how to harden off.... I think I have an idea, but curious if you or anyone else has done them.

@@AllPurposeMom they are green.. I just clean them, rinse and check.. cut them up I to inch peices and boil them.. or toss I to stir fry. 10 to 12 are enough for a meal for 2 people.. taste no different.

I'm Bakersfield California, we have similar summers, dry and very hot. I've been using grow bags for 6 years, and put the grow bags in a cement mixing tubs, so I can keep a couple inches of water in bottom, like a self watering system. Otherwise, I end up killing my plants by forgetting to water them. When we go out of town, I just add more water. I haven't tried a straw bale garden yet but, yours looks great, and thanks for the tips on which plants I can still get in. This was my first year planting garlic, and I didn't know when to pull them. Thanks!

I would love to have drip pans for all of my bags, I was sourcing them last year before we moved. Runoff kills me, I can't stand to waste water.
@heatherj30302 жыл бұрын
Yes, same here. We are on a meter, and it's California. They get super strict about water usage. I have seen others use some type of plastic sheeting or vinyl with a wood or brick border to lay the plastic over. That might be an inexpensive solution to hold a little water for a larger area. Cement mixing tubs would be really expensive with how many grow bags you have. I wish I had your energy! My garden is much smaller.😁

Try the peppers and squash again but try and find a shady spot for the peppers. My peppers are doing the best ever, I have baby poblanos, my favorite 😁

I have my zucchini plant behind a small wall that is not getting really any sun but it is outside in heat. Does it need to have direct sun on it?
@AllPurposeMom2 жыл бұрын
How is it doing there? Is it getting big and bushy and making flowers? If it's more than a month old and not doing anything it may need more sun...
@CarmenLopez-mj3sd2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. It’s grown and has flowers but i seems to have kind of stopped. I will move it next to my tress so it can get morning sun and afternoon shade. I get irrigation so it is in a container so easy to move. Thank for the response.

@@CarmenLopez-mj3sd have you fertilized it?? They are heavy feeders so you might want to feed it before moving if it was doing well before.
