Thank you for the advice! I’m 27, went to school for psychology and have been a social worker for 4 years. For years I haven’t been passionate about my job but stayed because I have bills and I felt stuck for awhile. Exactly 2 months ago I was talking to my fiancé and told him that I felt like my job was taking me further away from my purpose but I quickly changed my attitude and started listed all the things I was grateful for like I get to work from home, I was able to keep my job during the pandemic, etc. I told myself that this job and these feelings are temporary and if I keep focusing on my IT courses one day I’ll be in the career that I want. 3 weeks ago I was offered my dream job working for software development company and they doubled my salary. As I write this, I’m still in disbelief that my life has completely shifted. I’m excited about life and the future; scared /anxious that I’ll fail; and proud that I took a chance on myself and took the steps to make my dream happen even when I was feeling lost. Take my experience as a reminder to not give up on your dreams and be kind to yourself if your currently feeling lost; life will surprise you when you least expect it💛

There is one thing that has really marked me in my twenties (still in them, I'm 27), and it's that we often overestimate what we can do in a year and underestimate what we could do in a decade. This has given me so much peace cause remembering it lets me rest in knowing there is still more time to get to the goal. What is important is walking towards it. If I die tomorrow I want to feel satisfied in the process I'm taking and not just achieving the end goal. Another thing is that life has seasons. Especially as women it's hard to feel like we need to be everything and do everything all at once, and understanding we could do everything and be everything we want but in seasons gives sooo much peace and rest. At the end of the day, it's important to live out God's grace, to recognize that we are loved and there is nothing more we could do to be more loved than we already are. We will get to the goal within seasons, the goal will come in due time but the process needs to involve grace, rest, and gratitude if we don't want to get there feeling like a train wreck.

I thank God for that experience all the time. I was forever changed. I also learned that close friends can be/become toxic and it’s okay to let the friendship go. As you grow you can outgrow people. … pivot is a real WORD! For all your whole entire life life!

@@carnival30 Bless you! God really spoke to me during that time. I left a toxic place and I was in a YWCA shelter. I was happy for a safe place. Two much older women really took me under their wings. When I first moved in I think I had a mental breakdown. Idk. I would hyperventilate and shake. I started praying over my mind and God really began to give me peace that surpassed my expectations. I don’t know how but I was so at peace. I also really held a grudge about the situation that put me there for several years after but I eventually was able to forgive. I feel this so deep when Adrienne talked about the “time line” she had in her mind of finding love, engagement, marriage & having kids. Something I noticed is when we are in such a rush or worried more about fitting our time line than finding the right person we SETTLE and maybe stay longer in relationships we shouldn’t have, or look past red flags, and trust me, it’s a lot easier to leave the person if they aren’t right for you before you have a kid with them, that’s makes things A LOT tougher. You almost have to put your kids first and make things work. Which at times is hard if you would have just not settled. So that would be my biggest advice! Don’t be so rushed to fit your timeline where you look past reg flags in life.

This video was so true! I just turned 25 this year and literally on my birthday I got into a car accident. I had to distance myself from friends I’ve known for years that were no longer serving me, and to top it off I have been trying to get a legal assistant job this entire year and constantly got rejected. However, with each disappointment God always blessed me with something better. If one job didn’t chose me, I had an interview for somewhere I didn’t even think I was qualified for. So if you’re in your twenties just prepare yourself for the disappointments/ hard decisions and trust Gods plan anyway. There is no blueprint, and no matter how prepared you are life will always throw a curve ball! We got this 💞💞💞

this is so true lol. I felt this way at 24 then I felt a lil better once I started working towards my goals more but at 29 I was feeling this again since I'll be turning 30 very soon. I kept freaking out about how I don't have a place of my own, a spouse/SO, children etc. Keept seeing/hearing about friends/old acquaintances that are getting married, having children etc. Made me feel super left out but honestly I should be glad none of those things happened in my 20s. I was not ready for those things at all

I finished university at 22, I got a job and bought my first car at 23, I built a house and started dating the guy of my dreams at 24. I’m 25 right now, everyone has their own stories. No matter these ups I still had downs at EVERY single year of my 20’s. But knowing myself and growing towards my own future self was the most important ingredient to this recipe.

"Never stop believing that the next thing will always be greater" Thank you so much for that encouragement. ❤️ I would tell my younger self (I'm 28) the people who truly love you will never expect you to perform and contort for them. If you find yourself performing for them to keep them and chasing them, they're not for you and they never will be

I am 41 and I co-sign everything you said! Don't give up girls, it really gets better and I was like Adrienne. I had a whole life plan. None of it worked the way I planned, it all came out completely different,I didn't get everything I planned for but some of it I am currently trying to make real by myself. And I am actually not in a bad place. I have learned self love and I know what I am really good at and I made peace with my flaws and don't use all my focus trying to hide them cause my dopeness outweighs those flaws millionfold lol. Plus one thing you will learn no matter how things look from the outside (money, beauty, relationship, "picture perfect"), we ALLLLL have those same fears and insecurities. I coach people and everyone has those same residual feelings from their childhoods, anxiety, insecurities. Talk to people, don't hide yourself. There is a lot of healing and comfort in community. ❤️

As someone who had such a traumatic childhood I never thought I would make it to my 20s. I’m 22 now and I’m learning to embrace the ups and the downs that comes with being in my 20s. Being Hispanic and 28 and not married and not wanting kids feels like the whole world is shunning you and your a terrible person but at the end of the day there is no timeline there is no blueprint everyone’s paths are pre written by our father and we just have to trust the process and be ready to pivot 🙌

omg I felt this too. I'm 29 (turning 30 very soon!) and I spent most of my time on my education and career but honestly I have soo little experience with relationships and I was feeling down that I'm the only cousin in my family that's not married yet. My family cracks jokes sometimes (I'm Hispanic too) and most of the time I shrug it off like yeah whatever lol but as I get closer to 30 it was beginning to bother me :( But I'm learning to trust God and know that He has a plan for me !

Currently 22 ✨ however, time pushes through me quicker than most people. Growing up too fast due to certain situations, shapes the way you grow older every year. I feel like my “20’s” I’ve lived bits and pieces of even though my age is 22. I learned very young about things that unfortunately most of my peers weren’t taught. Like taxes, how to vote, how to pay bills, how to create a resume, how to go in for a job interview, etc etc. I think it’s so important for us to learn about these things early on so we don’t feel like we know absolutely nothing when we’re out in the real world.

Best advice in your 20's is learning how to manage your finances, saving as much as possible(don't try to keep up with the Joneses, you'll rack up credit card debt so fast), loving yourself first, taking time for your mental AND physical health is important! Working out as much as possible builds self confidence, positive body image, and helps decrease stress. When I started to lift weights 🏋️♀️ I also earned the confidence at work that I could handle more of a workload as much as my weights would increase at the gym and my booty 🍑 started to look good too! Also travel somewhere if possible! Go see the world so you don’t feel that your surroundings is all there is! There’s something about travel that allowed me to realize there’s more out there! Travel on a budget though. 🔑

This was such a lovely segment! As a woman in her 20s, the most important thing for me to learn was to BE KIND and PATIENT with myself! Money is an energy. Your money habits will follow you everywhere you go. My income tripled at around 23 and after my expenses (including luxuries I added - lash extensions, hair, clothes) I was still ending with 200 in my account to last me the two weeks AS IF I WAS STILL IN COLLEGE, granted I was saving ALOT more but I still wasn’t focusing on financial literacy and a fundamentally healthier relationship with money to expand upon. I am turning 26 in November and doing a career change and am really realizing how harshly I fumbled the bag. People really hate talking about money because we attach it so heavily to our identity and don’t want to admit any poor decision making skills, but if you don’t come from financial literacy we have to start being transparent with ourselves. I have forgiven myself for my mistakes and really hold myself accountable for some of my vices and self limiting beliefs that hold me back. Taking it one day at a time chile 😂

Advice to those in their 20’s as I recently just left mines: • Your life is not over at 30, it’s just the beginning of your young adulthood! • Don’t lose yourself trying to fit in • Learn how to embrace emotional boundaries with family, friends and partners • Pay OFF every debt, big or small, doesn’t matter if finances will be tight for a bit • It’s okay and normal to leave a career that you studied for, esp. if you are not happy! • Stop focusing on finding the one and focus on finding you • Travel, travel, TRAVEL!! Traveling is not a luxury, it’s a necessity to growth! • Step outside of your comfort zone and TAKE RISKS • Live in your truth, including your sexuality, don’t spend your 20’s hiding from your truth. • It’s healthy to say “NO” and “I can’t”, be empowered to do so! • Find a spiritual and meditative practice and stick to it! • Spend time with those who care and love you often as you can! • STOP COMPARING YOUR LIFE TO OTHERS AND LIVE YOUR OWN JOURNEY! There is no timeline or blue print! • Let go of the past, live in the present for the future comes in due time always! ❤️
