As an Athletic Therapist the last piece of advice I would give for a torn muscle is "don't use it". The key is optimal loading, or more simply, de-load and gradually reload. Please get outta that sling and build back up the strength in you arm, slowly and gradually. Also I would advise going to see a PT or AT so they can figure out which muscle is torn and tailor your rehab programme to the specific muscle (different muscles control different movements).

My parents’ house was broken into and my cat was home. Thank goodness he was too spooked to get out because they left the door open too. What’s also creepy is we think they were in the house when we pulled into the driveway - my bedroom light was left on. They didn’t take a lot and the stuff they did take wasn’t even worth anything (a broken camera, and like $15 in cash) - we think they were kids and made a quick exit. Police never found them. That’s my biggest fear too - my pets getting out or hurt.

So something I had to study in school was about cults, and how they work and how they connect, and I hate to say this, but honestly, the cult in Pasadena might not be connected to Peru as a whole, but some of the leaders might be connected and those are the ones that reached out about a potluck and everything like that and told her not to mention anything and play it like a joke, and then took her into their cult in Peru as a retreat, and are using her to spread it

I grew up southern baptist…. I realized at the age of 16 that I was basically being brainwashed and opened up my eyes and mind. I agree that organized religion does harm basically because they force you and guilt trip you into thinking that you’re gonna experience horrible things when you die if you don’t join their religion

I'm glad I'm not the only one who absolutely never felt "the holy spirit". I grew up in the Evangelical church and I was also the one who faked it to not seem like I wasn't a "real Christian". I do still struggle now that I'm deconstructed with the lack of a sense of community, but I would absolutely never go back to the church. No chance.

It’s crazy to see Alyx go through this because I’ve been watching her for YEARS and she’s always been like a huge advocate for mental health and she would meditate and journal a lot and I just think it’s heartbreaking that she’s struggling to a point where she’s subjecting herself to such an awful place and convincing herself (and others) it’s helpful :/

The psychedelic part had me a little anxious. You can tell you've never done any psychedelics, and that's totally fine, it shouldn't be used by everyone. But, let me tell you, it can be extremely transformative, healing, spiritual, ECT. I haven't done it in years, I have kids now, but it isn't always as woowoo as I think you're making it out to be. Some people do become super crunchy, granola, cringe, but it really can be so good for some people too. For me, mushrooms made that stupid voice in my head (my own narrator) shut up for a few hours, and holy heck, that was so nice to shut her up sometimes. Shout out to Colorado for decriminalizing mushrooms! I do know of a dope artist, her name is Tash Sultana, she did mushrooms once and tripped for a long time. She's all good now, but it was debilitating for her for a good number of months. Check her out, you might really like her. Also, for reference, I was raised atheist and also dislike organized religion.
@ambersmith1176 Жыл бұрын
Ok. Getting to the docuseries part of the pod: her recruiting others to this cult IS super cringe. Not ok for her to use her platform to convince others to do heavy, heavy psychedelics. Like I said, it is NOT for everyone, and needs to be done in the absolute correct way.

Speaking of Cults in Pasadena California. My brother Charles was in a church group Garner Ted Armstrong and they had a huge church and corporate office in Pasadena. It was the weirdest thing because I thought I would be open-minded and go to church with him one day but I wasn't allowed to because I had to be officially invited to attend church there. It was so weird because he was only allowed to drink beer and they said that the other forms of alcohol were sinful LOL. Messed up😢😅

Ayahuasca intrigues the fuck out of me. I don’t know if I could do it, but I’ve known people who have, in Peru and Mexico, and the stories they told were so intriguing. I could listen to them talk about it all day. One of my friends actually went bc he wanted to see if it would affect his lupus positively, and for spiritual reasons. Spiritual awakening is a very real thing, and it’s not fun. It deeply changes you on a fundamental level.

People aren’t meant to live the way we do , people have lost their community which is so sad. I think Emily should look into intentional communities. They aren’t a cult, more like people who have their own lives, jobs etc but have a shared community area such as fire pit, vege garden ( or any other interest) which helps people have a better community around them

I used to watch ADubs but stopped many many years back when she would always pull stuff that was not legit. She would do this in car pranks of picking people up and she was constantly accused of it being set up, which they were, but she insisted they were not. I felt she was shady in a lot of her videos and I just felt manipulated. It’s too bad because she started out a very attractive personality in person, and then she got really weird. She started acting psychotic for a while and that just freaked me out. It was massive secondhand cringe to watch.

I live in a small place in Norway where not alot happends. If we see a cop car here we are like, what are the cops doing here!? We don't see them around here alot. Someone who lives close to me had people break in a little bit ago. It was in the middle of the day and the parent/parents just went to get some food when this happend. But their son was home. If i remember right he's about 8-9 years old. The parent/parents where just going to the store a few minutes away for like 20 minutes. I bet the people who broke in saw one or two adults leave and lock the door and they took the chance to rob the house. The boy was in the bathroom when he could hear the window breaking, and he didn't have his phone with him so all he could do was to hide in the bathroom. They have a small dog and they kicked the dog!!. Luckily they didn't find the little boy. But i bet the boy have some trauma now and the dog is now really scared of people. When my sister told me i said, when they kick a little dog i don't trust they wouldn't have hurt the boy if they found him. People who hurt animals i don't trust at all. I hope both the boy and the dog will heal from the trauma.

No, that’s really funny. When I was in the 3rd grade, I went with my grandma to see FFH (Christian band). I sat and cried heavily (because I was moved by live performance) and my grandma was like “oh! God is talking to you and telling you to ask him into your heart!” And I was like “uhhh okayyyy…??” And she had me go up to the front, pray, and “accept Jesus into my heart” and I was like I don’t know about that but I felt so “moved” I was like “okay!” And then within weeks had a baptism. Well, really, I get like that at any live performance. The first time I saw a real concert as an adult, I had that same feeling of overwhelming feelings, and sat and cried. It’s never been god all this time.

i see how you’re taking this and honestly i took it the same way at first, but i think in the days of technology we are all trained to manipulate others with social media to some extent. influencers specifically curate the things they show their viewers, for better or worse. i think manipulate likely wasn’t the best term to use here, but i don’t think it’s a bad thing in this situation and i think from what we see rachel isn’t ever truly manipulative
