I've had a Horizon Pro 4k projector since November and absolutely love it. Have it connected to a 7.2 surround system via ARC and using it in a dedicated theater room setup. Picture quality is pin sharp and looks outstanding on my 135" Silver Screen. I have LG OLEDs in my mancave/living room and I feel the picture/black levels are not that far off at all going from room to room. Absolutely amazing image, along with outstanding auto/AI features, especially considering it holds its own against projectors twice as much or more. In addition...the 20,000 hours lifespan makes it a great option as a TV replacement. We've played games on it, watch movies, and watch TV and have had an amazing experience with each. One of the best purchases I've ever made IMO.

@@davo01BKK IMO, it has very good blacks. In fact, you can find several reviews online where reviewers comment on how surprisingly good the black levels are. I think it's a fantastic projector and my family has really enjoyed it over the last 8 months.

I owned both the benq and xgimi at the same time to compare. The benqx300i is much brighter and has better color accuracy than the xgimi horizon pro 4k. The xgimi was basically unwatchable with some light, while the benq was completely watchable. The xgimi had great sharpness, but it was artificial and didn’t look natural. When I compared side by side at the same time, I immediately realized how much better the benq was over the xgimi. The xgimi also has a weird green hue In cinema and user profile. Also, the xgimi had a lot of issues such as turning yellow/green at times, failure to boot on, and once it turned on with a compressed picture. Xgimi also only has a one year warranty compared to 3 years by benq. I kept the benq and returned the xgimi. I originally purchased the xgimi because of this review. I saw the comparison video of the xgimi to have a greenish hue to it and thought maybe it was his camera, but it is actually the projector. Benq 100%. I don’t trust this review because it seems biased. Also the blacks on the benq was fine and comparable to the xgimi, I just turned down the brightness a little. Lastly, customer support is so much better with benq. Xgimi will have a person try to trouble shoot with you, but ultimately ask you to send photos/videos of the problem to their higher tech support via email and wait for them to get back to you. I did benq tech support via web chat and immediately helped me with a problem.

So the Ben q has acceptable black levels? For dark theater rooms can you lower the settings to get better black floor? How's it's lowest light output?

Use smart eco to get the best black levels for the benq. I have an LG OLED as well. It’s not perfect black levels, but at night it is definitely acceptable. Compared to the artificial sharpness and green hue of the xgimi horizon pro 4k. The color accuracy is mind blowing on the benq.

Thanks for the reply! the Ben Q looks like the safe option. I wouldn't ever spend $3000NZD with only 1 year warrantee. Have you had other projectors to compare the black levels?

@@davo01BKK I have two other projectors, but they are 1080p. The xgimi and benq are the only 4k projectors I’ve owned. I compared both the xgimi and benq at the same time and I wouldn’t go back to the xgimi. My cousin who works for imax on film editing also agrees with me on the benq picture quality and color accuracy. As for the black level, I doubt this KZbinr used the smart eco feature to get the better black level when doing his comparison video. I don’t regret my decision to stick with the benq over the xgimi. Also, I feel safer with the Taiwan company over the Chinese. There maybe other 4k projectors out there with better black levels, but at this price point, I think it’s great. Especially for gaming. I wish you the best of luck with whichever one you choose.

Seems like you didn’t spend enough time with that nebula learning its features. All you have to do to get to the secondary menu is push the “input button” upper left, and you have all those features without touching the projector…

HORIZON Pro's smart keystone correction is great for those who are new to projectors, and can be used anywhere as long as there is a wall or screen. I even use it to watch movies in the kitchen now while cooking without having to make a lot of adjustments because of the automatic keystone correction.

Benq for gaming but too soft otherwise, Nebula is sharp , accurate, I will buy it soon. Xgimi is very yellowish, and maybe with artificial sharpness

Lovely comparison video, loved it. My use case is 90% movies on a 150 inch screen. Do you think Benq with 4LED and 3000 lumens has definite advantage over other also the fact that it has larger .65 DMD chip and 100 DCI-P3 coverage. What do you say. They're all great but I wasn't entirely happy with my Xgimi Horizon Pro. It's the smallest of the lot but it's not portable at all: the cube shape is not convenient and I hate the huge power brick. Moreover, it's not robust at all: mine fell to the ground and even though it was inside the bag and had the protective cover, it became useless. I've already ordered a new one and this time I chose the wonderful BenQ TK700 STi.

I don't agree with your comment on the streaming dongle / tv stick. It is much more convenient that the built-in software: you only have to install the tv stick once and you can easily replace it if you want to upgrade or change the software entirely.

You can install a different streaming dongle in Xgimi too though, so while installing it isn't that much of a job, Xgimi having it already install is a small plus over the other two.

The scene with the mountains looks much better on the nebula to the others. The colours look way more accurate. On the xgimi the blue tint makes colours look off. And the bend was the worst of the bunch. Seen a few comparisons and the nebula always looks like it has better colour representation. This is the sort of device you need to see with your own eyes as so many mixed reviews as to what is best.

The Nebula simply isn't price competitive if your goal is to get the best value for your money. It's not the brightest, it's the most expensive and it suffers from DLP Rainbow, which for some is very distracting.

I‘ve been waiting for this video so firstly thanks a lot for it. However I‘m still not further with my decision-making.. I‘ve been leaning towards the nebula as I thought it might be the most innovative since it is the newest, however now after watching this I‘m drawn towards the xgimi and benq.. you need to help me out here; since the gaming comparison was a little short. so my situation is the following: I will game about 60% and I will watch TV (sports and movies/series) about 40% on it. I won’t game competitive but still I’d love a responsive experience.. I am not a picutre enthusiast.. I love sharp images but I can‘t always comment on „color accuracy“ and so on. We have many walls and I want to occasionally take it to the bedroom and balcony but not really outside the house. Will that be easy with any of them? Also: Does their input lag and hertz vary with different resolutions all the same? And last question: Is the distance they need away from the screen to project a large image comparable? Thanks in advance to any comment on any aspect :)

One thing's for sure: if you want portability, DO NOT choose the Xgimi Horizon Pro (huge power brick, fragile box, no lens cap).

Just as a watch out. This guys review is very biased against nebula for some reason. All of his comments about the nebula’s image quality) including this contrast issue in Gemini man and the faded notebook text) are incorrect even out of the box. I got the nebula in kickstarter and the image has been stunning, even tested the same clip from the movie and it was perfect. You CAN also access the projector settings from the remote (unlike what he says here). This was fixed in the very first firmware update. What I will wholeheartedly admit is that the auto keystoning and auto screen fit on the Nebula is pretty subpar compared to the XGimi looks like.

Dude, they fixed the remote projector settings with the nebula a while ago in the Very first firmware update! Just press the input button on the controller (top right) and it’ll bring up the projector settings!

Nebula looks the best. Accurate colors and deep black. Xgimi has green tint to it. Benq looks okay, but you don't get that true black.

Awesome review. Torn between Xgimi Horizon 1080p and Xgimi Halo+ model for camping use, but unsure if it's bright enough for use in a camper, that'll be shaded during the day?? The Horizon 1080p looks amazing and much better value, and doesn't look too much much larger, thou is it fragile for outdoors use, or is it the same in terms of robustness as the Halo plus? Xgimi 4K is the best choice. It is on very reasonable price $1400 to $1500 as compare to nebula $1900 and benque $2100. Nebula has bluetooth speaker sharing issues. Xgimi 4k is portable and has very stunning bright colors. You can play games, watch movies and it supports 3D too.

Despite having atrocious input lag , the Nebula definitely has the best black levels and contrast. The BenQ's black level is abysmal but it's input lag is exceptional. Guess you really cant have it all without selling a kidney, huh?

there is one thing that get's overlooked quite often in projectors reviews and it's fan noise, and I find it so important because it can get quite distracting, in this comparison which one is louder?? , I was expecting the X3000i to be a clear winner but now looks like it's not the case , looks like it really comes down to the specific usecase which in my case is like a 50/50 between gaming and movies/series then now I have no idea of what to do. between the horizon pro and the X3000i. This is a Horrible Video Review. The BenQ Projector is Not a compact Projector it is a Large nearly 15 pound Projector. The BenQ Projector is far Superior in every possible way to the Other 2 Projectors and it is Not even close.

The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.
