A great video! Thanks Lanier. I never fell in love with this one but did wear Allure Homme Sport for a long time!

I'm wearing this as my scent of the day on a windy London day here in the UK. It's the father of the Allure Line and I love it, followed by Edition Blanche and Allure homme sport cologne. Glad to see you back

I love this stuff. Way ahead of it’s time when it came out I think. One of my favorite men’s marketed designer level scents. But I didn’t like it AT ALL at first. It took a couple years and then revisiting to fall in love w it. It was this past summer in fact, on vacation, when I found myself spraying it in a store, and was amazed how much I liked it after having dismissed it previously.

Smells Like... yes! My exact sentiment. Cheers

One of the most versatile from the Chanel line. I quite enjoy it, but I wish it had a bit more legs.

It had legs, but it was reformulated, the original formula was more fresh in the opening, and richer in the dry down
@tommymoore83905 жыл бұрын
Dear Lanier, another great review. The opening is a bit challenging for me. The mid and dry down is worth the wait. I do get the freesia note in the mid and it's one of my favorites. I grow them every spring. They bloom in mid summer and are great for attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Peace and be well my friend ✌

I bought it years ago, which must have been soon after it came out. I really loved it, but I have not had it since. I should try it again. (I did have a sample, not long ago.) I know what you mean about one note putting you off. I am like that with Le Labo's THE NOIR. I love it, but it has something in it that I am not keen on and that puts me off spending the money on it. Thank you for the video!

You are welcome Daniel. Yes sometimes one note can ruin a song or a perfume.

After visting and enjoying your rather adept, insightful, and authentic, if not not just a tad melancholy review of CAH, I find myself desperately trying to temper my own enthusiasm and anxiety as I await my most recent acquisition, a vintage bottle of this most intriguing and simultaneously polarizing Chanel masterpiece (we are talking Polge here, what else would it be?). This is a blind purchase (how could I have not had my nose on this?) and knowing its lineage and pedigree I can only surmize that the juice contained within the simple, classic, and at once recognizable bottle has already surpassed it's namesake. Thank you Lanier for once again elevating my olfactory education so astutely. Cheers!

Great to see you back Lanier. The original Allure is actually my favourite of the line, despite having tested all 5 flankers. There's just that Eau Fraichissante one that continues to elude me... wonder what it's like...

Hi Lanier, It's so good to see that you have time to do full length reviews again! I really like your new intro video!!! (though, you might want to turn the sound down a little there). I hope you're doing well, take care
@laniersmith17985 жыл бұрын
Hollywood Silent Film Great to see you here Hollywood. I’m afraid my sound department at Imperium International Studios is on strike. They want a larger string section in the orchestra. So I had to play all the instruments myself and mix it all at the same time! I guess I’ll have to give into their demands. 😎 Cheers

Just came across your interesting channel. Thanks for sharing your collection. There are a few colognes I’ve smelled with that sort of scent you mentioned and I just abhor it. I even made a list of like 20 colognes I like and dislike for comparing notes, but several had similar notes. So it was hard to figure out. One of which was Dior Sauvage (the new one), Blue de Chanel, Versace Dylan Blue & Prada Luna Rossa Sport has a bit of it also. I sort of narrowed it down to pretty much what you did, possibly the ginger mixing with the bergamot or lavender ( I dislike lavender but like it mixed with something like in a laundry detergent) Or a pepper note mixing with something citrusy. Just made it smell bloody/metallic and sharp. So yea they usually get a rinse off of my arm and my want list. 😉

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home, perfectly kept. Allure Homme Sport eu Extreme is my go to...the original is quite different. The Blanc edition is almost Bleu DE chanel mixed with eu extreme...citrus. I need to buy a new bottle of the original simply as a reference point. All Allures are very different...excellent video!

Well, if I may conjecture, it might be that it's been reformulated, you know Chanel. I enjoy rediscovering fragrances as well, although some I'll always never wear. I do not wear many "Mens" fragrances myself, I find them well brutish, I prefer the gentleness and general feel of "female" perfumes. However, some "Mens" scents are actually quite good, great video as always!

Some of the Chanel citrus' turn to bleach on me, it may be one or a combination of those contributing to the screech? Pour monsieur edt is like a cheap cleaning product on me yet the edp is sensational. I get the same vibe as u from allure homme, i used to love it though but now not so much! Cheers man

You know, I wrapped-up work a short while ago and headed out to get a haircut (in the chair now) and, afterwards, a light dinner. I sure hope I don't get another sucky haircut because I haven't found anyone who can cut my hair properly in this sleepy town. But I digress. On my way out I eyed Allure Homme, but decided to go with it's lighter sibling, Allure Homme Sport, instead. I love Homme Sport but, after seeing your fine review, I feel cheated. Fortunately, it will be an early evening since we're recovering from Winter Blahs (sickly but not sick) so I'll get to wear Allure Homme later this evening. Cheers, Lanier.

Jim R I know just what you mean when lamenting a good haircut in a sleepy town! 😂 So, how did it go later on in your evening? Cheers Jim
@jimr8805 жыл бұрын
@@laniersmith1798 I was happy with the haircut but, afterwards, I realized that five months of bad haircuts that I have lowed my expectations (i.e., if it doesn't completely suck, then I'm satisfied; if it marginally acceptable then I'm happy - LOL!). I miss my barbers! Anyway, we had a nice early dinner of Pho and Bun (Vietnamese), and I later doused myself liberally with Allure Homme prior to turning-in. So it was very good and restful evening. Now, if only Winter would exit stage right...temps are 20-25 degrees before average. Cheers!

Jim R we reached 50 degrees today and everyone on my block went running down the street in their bathing suits. The fire department had to be called to turn the hose on them to bring them all back to their senses.

I always find something of interest to take away from you videos and i feel so much more informed after. I loved your Mitsouko review so much i sought it out in all its forms and was well rewarded.I like to call it my at home in a kimono scent .........alas i still await my Pinkerton to arrive but while i wait i enjoy a Singapore Sling...........Although the smell of the leather does clash a little with the scent ..hehe.
