I sold Ray a Jeep for his oldest son in 2011...when I delivered the car to his place in Owings Mills, Md he answered the door and we sat at his kitchen table and did the paperwork, then his chef made lunch and I sat there, just Ray and myself....I was freaking out inside...I’ve been to every single Ravens home game, bought season tickets in 96...Rays such a good man...good Christian man...his faith is EVERYTHING to him

Great reactions. Love the variety and breadth of the sports world you are exploring. I know you are just beginning and there is a LOT of greats/legends throughout history. The athlete that has always been a favorite of mine, going back a LONG time, is Jim Thorpe. There is very little video footage of him as he was active in sports during the early 1900's til the 1930's, but was named "Athlete of the 20th Century" by Wide World of Sports. Not only did he play and coach in the NFL (#37 in the NFLs Top 100), but also professional baseball. He also won the gold in the decathlon AND pentathlon in the 1912 Olympics. That same year he also won the National Ballroom Dance competition. Basically, if it was a sport, he excelled at it. If you are interested, there is a good KZbin video by Lifelong Learners entitle "Jim Thorpe - the Best Athlete you've never heard of".

The Buffalo Bills comeback against Houston Oilers was good. Jim kelly had a good career, fighting cancer now🙏. He never won the superbowl, however- teams they beat in the playoffs had Marino, Moon, Elway, Montana ( with chiefs), Kosar- Marino used to hate Jim- now they are tight, with Kelly's cancer battle. Not gonna lie this made me tear up because I had the same up bringing. My mom lost both her parents by the time she was 15 and was looking for that guidance in a man. They took advantage of her, beat us, did drugs in front of us, beat her in front of us. I saw my baby brothers dad hold my mom up off the floor by her neck when she was 7 months pregnant with my baby brother because he was high on drugs. I saw men spit in my mom's face and watched as they threw all our stuff out the house and we slept outside beside it until she could get enough money for gas and take us to live in the salvation army... I didnt make it to the deck of cards... I almost went to juvenile justice because my cards of choice were a brick and a knife. Thank God for being a minor and an understanding judge and community service. I was 9 years old and remember him throwing the kitchen phone at my face like a football after my mom told me to call the police. He threw it so hard it hit the wall and shattered and left a big hole in the wall. It only happened one time after that with my baby sisters dad but by then I was big enough to beat on him in the same manner.
