Anderson Silva is quite possibly the GOAT. He defended his title 10 times and was on a 16 fight win streak. He is just getting older and can't compete with those young savages anymore. He is in his 40's fighting 25 year olds. His title defense streak was broken recently by Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson who defended his title 11 times. Anderson's record may never be broken in the middleweight division though. Great video. Looking forward to more.

The only person you can truly compare to Anderson The Spider Silva is Jonny Bones Jones. Both of them are Flawless and can destroy any man on the planet. Anderson Silva did lose to Chris Wiedman but that doesn't make him less great to me. Because his winning streak is so long. You have to think about how long it took to finally get one lose. I personally think he lost to Chris Weidman because he was at the point of thinking he's a God. What i mean is that his winning record was so good and his fighting ability was so good to the point that he literally thought at times that he can't be defeated. In the first fight with Chris Weidman, he was to comfortable and left his guard down completely through the whole fight, he was thinking he can not be knocked out because of his ability and winning streak. Then next thing you know, he ends up getting knocked out because of the way he was thinking. Or you can just say he wasn't thinking in that fight. Someone can be the greatest fighter in the world and still lose in a fight.
@tomasusan5 жыл бұрын
He lost to Weidman because he was old and years past his prime.. Go watch fights of Ali in his 20s versus his last couple of fights. No comparison. Prime Anderson is 10x better than Weidman, no competition.

Unfortunately, what highlights don't cover, is the build up for fights, especially when Anderson was in his prime in the UFC. I swear to you, this man was respectful and gracious, and he has a bit of a pitch to his voice, so when talking, you wouldn't expect him to be so ferocious and brutal in the octagon. Another thing highlights don't always show is the entrances. Anderson used DMX's No Sunshine song as his entrance song, and I kid you not, soon as the lights went out, the blue lights kicked in with the bass intro of No Sunshine, you knew you were in for a show. I swear, I kinda held my breath every time that intro kicked in. Another thing these highlights don't expose is the mental game Anderson did with his opponents, especially in his prime. There came a time when people would be holding their breath, waiting for him to strike. During his fights, he was known to be very calm and patient for the first few minutes of a fight. He'd wait to see how his opponent would attack and try get them to be overly aggressive. Than, he'd test his reaction with a counter. After a few minutes in, Anderson would start getting more active. Once you seen him start moving around and looking and creating the angles, everyone, including his opponent, knew the aggressiveness was going to kick in, and the onslaught would ensue. Anderson had his opponents worried mentally, he gauged their attacks, he knew how they'd counter attack, and he knew how to move around their strengths. He had them mentally worried. All that was left was to put his plan into fruition. He was a true wizard when it came to the in-octagon mental game. "Wizard" accurately describes his movement and counter strikes. There were also instances that many would say it was like watching the movie the Matrix about his scary ability to move out of the way of attacks. He really did remind me of Ali in the ring, with his ability to move just out of the way, not expending too much energy, just enough to make them miss their attack, and then BOOM! Quick and fluid counter, then he would just swarm them with angles. It's one thing to see the highlights, but I really do feel lucky to have been able to witness this man and GSP in their primes, pretty much dismantling their entire divisions, and to really appreciate what they did for the sport.
