Look forward to your video on boxed sets. I have a number of these, mainly Penguin but also Mayflower, Granada etc. Started buying these about 6-7 years ago and they were so affordable at the time I just bought more or less anything that was in a box set. Now I see prices have gone up quite a bit and they're not as easy to find. Must come over to the UK soon for a paperback book fair. Thanks for yet another enjoyable video.

Thanks Jonathan. My boxers are mainly vintage Penguin ones but I have a handful from other publishers. Still plenty I'm after of course. Prices do seem to be creeping up on several of them tbh. I'm hoping to have it filmed fairly soon🙂

Another great video, Jules, and it also looks like it was a great day! If another event is staged on a Saturday, I'll try to make it down from London.
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Thanks David. Yes, a few people have said a Saturday would be better for travelling from a distance. We must let Maurice know!🙂

It was a pleasure to meet and chat with you again, Jules. I had a fantastic time and got some great £1 bargains as well as a few nice things from Bob. Of course, the high point of the day for me was going to Maurice's book barn with a few others. No £1 bargains there of course, but Maurice was very fair with the books I found (mostly Philip K Dick). It was a fantastic day, and it certainly got pretty busy in the afternoon which was great to see. I look forward to the next one. All the best, Jason.

Fantastic, thanks Jason. Yes, a trip to the book warehouse is really worth it but of course,. not practical for loads of people at once. It was a great first show and I'm sure there will be another at the same location soon. A Phillip K. Dick video is on it's way btw

The AE Van Vogt is wonderful. I have soft spot for him. My first Science Fiction novel I ever read.

Nice to see Ed McBain. I have thought about re-reading some of his books. I have a couple that is not about the 87th Precinct.
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Yes, he did write a few other series, very prolific. A great author, one of my favourites.

Saber, King Of The Jungle originally appeared in the UK weekly comic Tiger, in the 1960s. The strip was reprinted in colour in the 1970s in another weekly boys' comic, Vulcan. Art by Denis McLoughlin.

Hi Jules. Glad I don't live near Maurice because I would need two wheelbarrows to carry all the books away. Nice vid mate - all that pound stuff, something else to be jealous about.

For Sure Kenny, the bargains are simply insane! £20 for a packed carrier bag🙂

Nice. I'm continuing to stay away from A Format paperbacks currently due to lack of space. I may have a clearout soon....but I will return to the fold next year!

I know what you mean mate, but when I'm presented with a bargain, I just can't help myself....🙂

I could get lost for hours in that shop. There are two shops in Derbyshire. One is Scarthin Books in Cromford and the other is Scriveners in Buxton if you're ever that way. You'll love them.
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
I shall bear those in mind. Yes, at least a few hours needed at this venue for sure.

I got really excited for a second and then very disappointed when the Quatermass set popped onscreen. I've just binged all three available series and the three feature films. After all that I started looking for paper from the shows last night. Oh well...
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
Ah yes, sorry, that set sold at the show. Really like those Penguins editions.

I saw a copy of The Naked God by Peter F. Hamilton on the shelf. I came across a Pan copy here in the states for approx. 2 dollars at a charity shop chain called Value Village. Do u know much about that author?
@JulesBurtАй бұрын
He writes hard SF and his books are very loooong! I hear they are excellent although I've not tried him myself.

I couldn't help noticing "The Delicate Ape" by Dorothy Hughes in the 3 for 5 rack...quite hard to find in any format over here. That's a tough one for the Hughes completist.

it just feels like cheating, too easy to go to amazon and order a reissue of something like Bamboo Blonde. I'll hold out for the magic find.
