I spent many beautiful days on the trails of the Almaden Quicksilver and this video brought back many fond memories. Very well made and I enjoyed the music too. Thank you.

I was born and raised in New Almaden. I’ve been on those trails many times with my horse. I miss living there. Great video.

Hi! I just got done hiking quicksilver myself. I found this video while searching Reddit on any information about the car crashes (I'm a little morbid like that).I've been hiking here for around 10 to 12 years now and have always been fascinated with the cars. It's been a couple years since I did this particular trail to seen them. They are much more engulfed by earth than they were when you posted this. The upside blue Cadelliac type car down the cliff can barely be seen now. This makes me sad because I when I first spotted it accidentally I thought it was the coolest thing ever. In fact, I thought I must be the only one to see it since I spotted it by random chance and it is soo far down 😂...like the other two cars, it is nearly complete embedded into the earth. Some day no one will even know it was there. Since this video was posted, have you able to dig up any information about any of the cars? I would love to know the story.

I grew up in the 70s in Almaden and me and my brothers used to hike up there before there were trails and we found lots of old mine caverns that my brother used to climb in and we went to new Almaden up in the hills and before the historical town English camp were destroyed they were very well intact, but kids got to them and destroyed them

I lived there in the 70's and 80's and those cars were decades old way back then. So they are probably 1930's or 1940's cars.

Fantastic video and channel! I also have a hiking channel called Trails We Hike, and we also went out to Almaden Quicksilver this season. I really appreciate the time you put into research and sharing it with us. I learned more about Almaden Quicksilver watching your video than I did making mine :) Going to check out your Zion video now as we just recorded an episode there a couple weeks ago.

Hi Jeremy! I checked out your channel and that's some fantastic stuff you guys do! You guys got a new sub! Are you guys Bay Area natives? Zion was a fun and interesting trip to record. It was one of the first videos I put out, so there are things in there that could definitely use improvement. Looking forward to see your channel's take on it!

Hi - this is Jim here, but I can still answer your question :) Yes, we are bay area natives. We have lived a few other places, but the majority of our lives have been here in the Bay Area. And to echo Jeremy, great video! Awesome job! Excited for more!

Almaden Quicksilver is still open! You still need to follow social distancing rules and stay 6 feet apart.

Would you or anyone else happen to know if this trail would be considered safe for medium sized dogs? I've been looking for a nice trail to get out of the house .
@trekntripod7404 жыл бұрын
The trails are very dog friendly and spacious. If you follow the path I did, you'll have no problem social distancing. There's a bit of elevation at the beginning (~1 mile of uphill), but after that, it's a relatively smooth hike.

Hey! Another great video. I’m the guy from GA. Headed out to San Jose tomorrow and either going to hike quicksilver or mission peak. Do you think I will have any issues getting a Lyft to come and pick me up once finished hiking on a Sunday early evening?
@trekntripod7406 жыл бұрын
It should be no problem! They're both popular hiking trails, and I've never had issues with Lyft or Uber in the Bay Area. Mission Peak is near major roads with plenty of people around, while Quicksilver might be more isolated and you may have to wait a bit longer for your ride to get to you. It's a great day for hiking! Have a great time out there!

Trek n' Tripod ended up doing an outer loop at Almaden Quicksilver. Was great! Perfect day for it. And had no problem getting Lyft to head out there. Thanks!

Very educational and such a beautiful video! I actually stopped by here earlier this morning today. I didn’t do the full round cause I was afraid of all the wildlife sounds🤪 (I mean I love the sounds of nature and I know it’s a crazy thing to say since hiking does involves them) but I think I was mostly afraid cause I was hiking alone and the thought of the animals coming after me by myself is scary 😅 This was the first time in a long time since I’ve went hiking. I use to go with a group of my friends but our schedules our different now. I just love how therapeutic it can be just taking in all the fresh air and nature (minus animals possibly coming after me😂) I’m glad you shared this video! Question. Do you go alone? What time do you usually go and what things do you bring to prepare? Thanks 🙏🏼 😄
@trekntripod7405 жыл бұрын
Hey Gretchen! I do a mix of solo hiking and hiking with friends. I usually plan out the route beforehand and start early in the morning, assuming I can wake up early enough! I always bring plenty of water and food. Better to have more than less.
