You have to remain in your seats with the seatbelts unfastened because incase the refueling goes wrong (fire etc.) it's faster to evacuate. This is the reason for the firetrucks as well

I doubt that Lufthansa is earning money with this Almaty flight; Maybe Cargo revenues are offsetting the low pax load factors

@@doc7austin Yes I can confirm, ALA is an important cargo station in the LH Cargo network. And LH pax flights carry LH Cargo containers in their belly, thus making revenue. If this particular flight is profitable maybe not, but it's usually evened out on a larger scale

Yes, hugely profitable. There are no longer any competing flights to the eu/uk from almaty, now that astana handles all westward services. So Lufthansa can charge a premium as this is pretty much a captive market for them.
