Tori Mask is the best historian on the mall. Met her on Facebook when I was on it and she comes up with the best material. Thanks for posting Tori.

Talk about memories, I practically grew up in this store. I can't remember a Saturday where my mother did not drag me to Almeda Mall and we'd start at Foley's and walk all the way down to JCPenney's and back. If I am correct, Morgan and Wright also built Northwest Mall at about the same time and it looked the same as Almeda Mall.

Oh thank you so much for posting!! So many of the great malls that opened in the '60s are decaying now due to people shopping online. I wasn't born yet when Almeda Mall opened, but when I was a kid we moved to Clear Lake City (in early '70s before Baybrook mall) and my mom and grandmother's took us to buy school clothes at Almeda Mall. I remember all those stores and store fronts in your video. IT'S LIKE SEEING OLD FRIENDS AGAIN!!😊😊 Thank you for that trip down memory lane.

I remember when it was a nice place to shop. That ended long before internet shopping.

Farrell's Ice Cream parlor was one of favorite places to go in the lare 70s, early 80s. They dressed in old fashioned costumes and served humongous hot fudge sundaes... little paper menus... fun date place.

Worked at Mcdonalds in Almeda mall in 78, (first job). Fun, safe place back then. But so was Astroworld & the Astrodome. Thanks for the memories.

Our family went to Almeda Mall for everything until Baybrook Mall opened. We always brought home candy from the mall.

Solange Beyonce's sister made a song called Almeda and they're from Houston. Not only that she sampled the music used at the beginning of this video for that song. I love researching.

Hi Samantha, I do not, since it was a little further away than the old neighborhood, although all the old timers remember it fondly as THE mall to shop at prior to Almeda's opening!

in the 80s l used to hang out at Almeda's sister mall the Northwest Mall. Almeda outlasted the NW mall.

For the life of me I cannot remember the name of a store from Almeda in the mid 90s, it was like spencers but I don't think it was called spencers. Does anyone remember this store?

Hi Christian, I do not (yet). I've put my trips back to Houston on hold but it's on my future deep dive list to research!

I was at the opening weekend at Baybrook. It was only a 2 anchor store when it opened and Bay Area Blvd. was like a country road. I remember that they had a raffle contest where you had to go to all the stores and drop off a ticket for that store... they got your address that way and put you on a mailing list.

As a kid Alameda mall was great. Today it's a ghetto POS. Shame. Everything that was once beautiful in Houston is now destroyed and ugly and built over.
