Zico is huge in Korea, but no where near as huge internationally as he should be. Flat out musical genius. He writes no duds.

No No No, Jennie know what she was doing working with Zico. He's a headliner in the Hip Hop/ Rap community in Korea. He was a star as far back as GDragon days.

So when Blackpink was debuting, certain artists over there praised them saying they really wanted to work with them,.... like OH!, Taeyong & Zico. And now that they're huge,... look who they are coming back to collab with??

Because you don’t know Zico does not mean he isn’t popular 😊. Former leader of the group Block B, excellent rapper, tv host, great performer and also producer (for smtm, street man fighter). KOZ is his label under Hybe where the group Boynextdoor comes from.

zico one of those artists that’s extremely popular in korea. i’d say he does have somewhat less clout from international listeners to korean music which may or may not have to do with his problematic past. that being said,, there’s plenty of terrible things which can be said abt Zico but the man has an eye for talent and a great ear,, a genuinely very talented artist and producer.

"Problematic past"? You mean how his company tried to f*uck him and his group up? Or how he was an underground rapper before being discovered and scouted as an idol? RM was one, too. Zico was never involved with anything shady and it's a fact. He was caught in the storm of Park Kyung's scandal about bullying because they went to the same school, but his involvement turned out to be a fake rumor. Zico has never had a problematic past. He went through a though time at the start of his career, when he had to take up the producer role for Block B when they had just debuted, but that's not "problematic". He has always been clear about his work ethics and everyone knows that he spends 80% of his life working like a madman. He already had his hands full with haters and his asthma, there's really no need to throw shade at him.

@@OtterFederationClub I wasn’t referring to any of those things,, mainly his use of the n word, questionable use of black culture, and the homophobic f-slur. I agree that he seems to have a great work ethic and a lot of talent. I, personally, like him and think he’s shown growth throughout the career but I also don’t fall into the category of anyone who could be personally offended by anything he’s done. It’s not a bad thing to explain why certain international fans may not be so into him.

@playhouseofcardsatmyfunera5305 questionable use of the black culture as in? When did he use the n word? Or the f-slur? If there's anything, in tough cookie he was accused to be homophobic because of a line in the song that seemed to suggest so, but when he explained the rumors stopped (he was subtly referring to certain people in the industry that bend their back to achieve success, he of course didn't say who, but he left the hint there). Rap _is_ black culture but, like many other genres that originated from a certain group of people, it's a genre of music that can be interpreted in many ways, as it's been demonstrated by countless artists, both black, white and foreign. State your sources, because I've been listening to him since his debut and those were rumors that were debunked years ago. Also, there are Korean words that sound like the n word and various artists have almost got in trouble because of ignorant people that don't bother to check the lyrics and interpret as they like.
