Almost 1 year learning Vietnamese || Vietnam Bedroom Tour

I have been learning Vietnamese for 10 months and this is my progress so far. During my learning a language journey, I have been taking Vietnamese lessons, learning Vietnamese online, and practicing vietnamese with my family. I also live in Saigon so I am learning the southern vietnamese accent
I find speaking the most difficult part of learning vietnamese as I find the pronunciation difficult alongside being shy and not confident talking. How was my pronunciation in this video? Was it better than my 6 month learning Vietnamese video?

During the outbreak, I started to learn Vietnamese online with my own private tutor who I found through 123 vietnamese in Saigon. There's honestly not a better time to start learning vietnamese than now.
I was going to make a video at my progress at 3 months which I regret not doing as it would be interesting to see the development. So now I will be giving updates on my learning every month. Expect to see a "1 year learning vietnamese" in the near future.

Your pronunciation is actually pretty good! Vietnamese is a hard language and I've seen way too many people butcher it horribly because of the way things are pronounced. Even I struggle with it sometimes. You do still have an accent, but don't feel too bad about it, locals will definitely be able to understand you. Just maybe a few more months of practice and you'll be sounding native!

Bloody hell girl! That's some good Vietnamese there, especially with that actual Southern accent, rarely see it on youtube or anywhere here in Saigon. Keeping it up. It's amazing to see more foreigners trying to learn the Southern accent instead of the Northern one.

Do you recognize the differences between North and Southern accents? Which one is easier to you?

@@tienlehong9758 I've been learning the southern accent and am always around it as i live in saigon. But i think the northern accent is very recognizable and you can distinguish words more easily

@@EveHemingway thanks. Ít depends on. I live in Southeast. Sometimes I cannot understand words that people come from Nghệ An , Thừa Thiên Huế province, etc although they're using Vietnamese.

I do the same thing with my hands when I'm trying to speak Vietnamese XD It's a way for me to know when to use which tones :D

Omg I loved the video. Tôi học tiếng việt ba tháng. My boyfriend is vietnamese too but speaks a mixture of northern and southern dialect, which makes it difficult for me sometimes, but I actually surprised how much I could understand and you video even though I'm a very bloody beginner.

@@EveHemingway no, I'm currently living in germany but my boyfriends parents can only speak vietnamese (his mom's from Hanoi and his dad from Sai Gon) and all their relatives still live in Vietnam and we visit them almost every year so I recently started learning it by myself so I can someday hopefully have conversations with them.

hey eve! i've been watching your videos since i found your 6 months of learning vietnamese video (i'm also trying to learn vietnamese as a vietnamese-american!). your accent and vocabulary have really improved! i hope you continue making vietnamese language videos bc it helps me wanna learn my mother tongue. even though i'm vietnamese (and in my 20s) i really suck at it because i only speak english when i'm at work, school, or with friends. anyways keep up the great work! I will recommend u this channel : Chris Lewis. He is American and lived in Hanoi 3 years. He speak Vietnamese and has English subtitles in each videos and many videos he also speak English and has Vietnamese subtitles. Hope it can help u improve ur Vietnamese language skill !!!

I find it ironic though that you tell your students to speak English everywhere to practice yet you don't speak and practice Vietnamese everywhere, considering you're living in Vietnam and surrounded by Vietnamese people, so it should be easier and immersive for you. Is it just sooo easy for foreigners to not have to assimilate and coast by on English there?

1st of all the pronunciation not bad at all for beginners. I'm Viet, I would love a foreigner to speak the language with me. You should vlog and use your Viet with a cashier or food service. Ask your Hun come up with the list of a tongue twister for you to do on the next video.

I want to know how often this happens to you, you start a conversation with a Vietnamese person and they just stare at you. Then someone else comes by and says he is speaking Vietnamese. Then suddenly the first Vietnamese person understands you perfectly.
