I've been reading so many articles, watching videos, joining facebook groups. But by far, this is the most comforting information's video to watch. Thank you.

Hello. I've just got diagnosed this february. My mind has been a mess ever since then. Can I ask a view questions? did you get any surgery done? Have you ever been on remission? What food that you usually eat?
@ihaveuc Жыл бұрын
Hi, thx for your message. I have not had any surgeries. I know many UCers who have. You can read their stories on the site here: www.ihaveuc.com/category/colon-surgery/post-surgery/ As for remission, yes I have several multi year periods of remission. As for foods, I’d suggest you watch my videos here and the shorts videos in particular. I post many of my meals directly here on KZbin for people like you to watch to get ideas of what I’m up to. I hope that helps you, Adam

Its been 15 years now. Do you get minor flare ups from time to time Adam (in the last 12 months)?
@ihaveuc Жыл бұрын
Strange you should ask, I actually had a quick out of nowhere flare up in early July right after returning from a vacation (felt great all along ). Real happy to have jumped on budesonide granules right away. And after 2 days of that was back to no more flare. Tapered for 19 days and now med free a month again. Hadn’t had a flare like that since 2020 February… was weird.

@@ihaveuc thanks for taking ur time replying. I hope u feel better soon! i was symtom free for 3 and a half years, then dec 2022 i had a flare on and off until march 2023. Was put on prednisone 25mg and was fine the next day until i weaned off in may 16th 2023. Now to this day, i started having minor symptoms again with blood :( My dr never mentioned budesonide. I will have a colonoscopy in two weeks. I started taking s. Boulardi again and hopefully this should alleviate symptoms before i go for colonoscopy.

Same. I’m in the same boat. Had a horrible flare up a year ago and I’m still not normal.

Great document here: med.stanford.edu/content/dam/sm/gastroenterology/documents/IBD/CarbDiet%20PDF%20final.pdf Is a nice high level file from Stanford that you might like. There are also links to other resources within it

Elaine Gottchall has a book called The Specfic Carbohydrate Diet. You can get it on Amazon. I have been under remission using this diet for 17 years. Some day the diet is hard. I reframe my thinking. What I put in my body is an investment in my long term health. In all that time I have had two set backs. I run 5k’s and hike and am very health and active. This SCD diet has made the difference. It never hurts to try it for 30 days. Cheers!

How quickly did you see results with the Specific Carb Diet?
@ihaveuc2 жыл бұрын
Hey Cody, it has been a long time since I started but definitely after 4-5 days I saw noticeable positive changes and after 2 weeks it was even better and if memory serves me well, a month afterwards I was feeling like my life was so much different. But it was hard, I was so very sick and had lost tons of weight, strength and mentally I was a mess from such a long run with severe symptoms. Also you should remember, I was weaning of/tapering off prednisone when I started the SCD diet the first time. I did get off the steroids and then continued with the diet successfully

@@ihaveuc thanks man. I had a horrible flare up last July and it didn’t end until end of September. But I’ve had this smoldering burn since and food just doesn’t sit too well.

My story mirrored Adam. I was very unwell. I was told to take prednisone and referred to a surgeon. I was skeletal. I was hitting the emergency hospital as a result. A Canadian doctor told me about the SCD Diet. I had nothing to loose. I saw results in the first month. Energy returning, less blood loss, by body pain was improving. Fast forward to today. I have not been able to graduate off of the SCD Diet. But my life is full and happy. I did not need to see the surgeon. I work closely with my gut doctor. And today Seattle Children’s Hospital uses SCD Diet as a therapeutic treatment for children. I can still camp and hike and plan gatherings. I wish the same outcome for you.

I was violently ill. I can’t say I had immediate results. It took a long time to get that BAD. I knew I saw improvement (with labs and writing my symptoms every day) by one month. I had the guidance of a doctor. By three months my team and I knew I was turning around. 6 months I was back to active life. By 1 year I was cautiously optimistic and “normal”. I have not left the SCD. Never will. 😁
