Another video in which you make it seem sooo easy to fabricate new panels. Questions: -When you bend a part ( on 3:53 ) how do you know what radius it has to have? (How) do you measure it? -Why didn't you use the rotary on this E30 touring? It seems to me that is much more ergonomic, and you will still have to go for a lot of years. -Maybe i have missed it, but how do you know that the cars you are working on are straight /have not been in a severe crash? It would be a pity if al the hard work is in vane when you discover that the chassis is crooked when the sheet metal is tight. Thank you and YCR for another video!

Hi Ryan, your work on this project is quit technical a lot of shaping shrinking and welding in all the usual places were water gets trapped and creates the dreaded rot! The more you dig the more you find! So far so good pal! Your father taught you well all you have to do is improve on what you were taught which you are no doubt! What you are tackling at the moment is more technical than some of the work you do! All good viewing for us who follow the show❤

the e30 Touring is rare as hens teeth in the US, prices average 20-25k with some rust since they are imported from UK. The coupe also is popular and prices have soared
@Afraz_9n39 ай бұрын
That's interesting considering in the UK E30 tourings can be had from £6k needing rust work like Roger. And a decent one is £8 - 10k. Suppose whoevers imported it to the US needs to recoup the import costs i imagine it'd be quite pricey

@bobfrankish88839 ай бұрын
Here's the thing. I'm only a humble DIY'er, but I've restored 3 cars now, and I didn't really get on with Upol weld through. Probably just me. Another excellent channel to check out is Dave's Garage. He has tested lots of primers and swears by Halfords weld through. I've not much more welding to do now, but I've been using it and it seems great for the cost. Bear in mind YCR are sponsored by Upol.

What's the point of wirewheeling the welds when they are being grind off anyway?
@iwanevans6079 ай бұрын
Could just be a case of seeing how bad the damage is, they may not need to cut as much out after wire-wheeling.
@bobfrankish88839 ай бұрын
It's so you can see the quality of the weld. It's easy to miss a bit or have some pin holes when all the soot is left on. Best to rectify before grinding if possible.

Ryan, for content, would you take a couple scrap pieces. Weld them as you do for a customers finished piece. Grind the weld as you would to finish a piece. Cut in half cross section in several places to demonstrate that you are, or are not getting full penetration with your welds.
