I have 4 Epiphone guitars A new JJN gold Glory A recent casino A Wayne Static signature v And a 1994 Joe Pass All nice guitars ,my main gripe with all the epiphones is the same gripe the poly is too thick and you can really tell at the binding and neck body contact points, outside of that there all for the really you do get your dollar's worth, the more expensive Epiphone are excellent the lower price still decent if you don't mind modding upgrades, the cheapest ones are still more playable and functional than other brands even at the worst. The JJN signature models sound amazing and I use mine as a stunt double backup for my Gibson r54 and Gibson SG Jr

The Crestwood deserves to be at least B tier. I'd put it A tier. The look is very different, but the thing kills. I just bought one, and it has taken the #1 spot for me in live shows over my USA Les Paul standard, my Midtown, my '96 Strat...the pickups sound fantastic, the playability is really nice, the tremolo holds tune well, and it's lightweight so my back doesn't hurt after running around and jumping for a 4hr show

Straight up dude! I felt the same way about the coronet, these things are perfectly made and sound amazing. The lightness shouldn’t be overlooked, it’s light as a feather so you could play it all day and your shoulder/back wouldn’t feel a thing. Easy A tier for anyone who owns one.

On a whim on the way out I grabbed the Crestwood, and it wasn't just a better bargain for the money than the others...it was straight up better than the other guitars. Your sense of aesthetics is C-tier honestly. One can tell that you like modern rock and metal with most of your choices. The Coronet/Crestwood/Wilshire guitars are beautiful and sound fantastic. Also the logo on those guitars is so aesthetically pleasing. Les Paul’s are never more than B-tier when it comes to the appearance. I can’t stand the sunburst LP’s and worst of all, the ones with ”modern” color schemes.

Nice list you got there^^ I started playing on Epiphones ~10 years ago with an SG Custom Prophecy EX (Ebony fretboard, EMG81/85, Mahogany body, Tune-O-Matic bridge) for ~350€. Even though the guitar has a bit of neck dive, it still plays amazing and I still come back to it from time to time. A few years later I got myself a Les Paul Custom Prophecy Plus (EMG81/85, purple finish, Mahogany body, Rosewood fretboard -> at first I thought it was Ebony since it was so dark; and it has a production error, where 1 of the 4 nobs is blue instead of purple -> I don't see it as an error, it makes it look just a tad bit more unique :D ). This is my main guitar to this day and considering that it only cost me 550€ (including the case) that was one heck of a grab :D

The Tom DeLonge signatures unfortunately have been exploding well before he just recently came back to blink. His Epiphone signature was discontinued sometime during the mid-late 2010’s, and this caused used prices to skyrocket both for that guitar AND his sig Strat. I remember almost picking up his signature Strat, a near-mint Daphne Blue Mexican, for $600 in 2016, now they’re all almost $2k. He’s my childhood guitar hero but no way I’m paying that for a mass produced 20 year old guitar lol. The Epiphone retailed for $400, and now it rarely drops below $1000. Iconic guitar, but still just not worth it even to a superfan like me.

I wish you would have ranked the Epiphone LP Modern Figured rather than the regular Modern. Based on the reviews from pro musicians and home guitarists who purchased the Figured model, most are thrilled with the quality and value. I really think the figured model deserves at least an A when you consider the figuring (no veneers!), binding on body and neck, a fully mahogany body and neck, coil splitting, locking grover tuners, ebony fretboard, Probuckers, compound radius neck, weight relieved, etc. -- all for a mere $699 list price (up to $100 less with discounts). It was listed for $799 when it was first released in 2020, but the price gradually dropped sometime between then and before the Slash collection was released. Since then, the list price has held steady at $699 despite price hikes. The LP Modern Figured was a sick steal at $799, but for $599-$699?! It punches WAY above many other guitars at higher price points between the specs, tones, features, playability, etc. -- and it's just $50 more than the Modern that you rated. By listing the LP Modern as a B, you may give the impression that the figured version is a B too, but I'd definitely argue that the figured model is an easy A. If the pickups get swapped to Gibson pickups or Fishmans (depending on the tone you're going for), the LP Modern Figured becomes an easy S. Just pointing this out for people who are considering this model. I think it's worth the extra $50 to get the Modern Figured model -- and when you consider all of the above points and how that guitar stacks up against some of the ones rates as an A or S, I'm pretty sure people would agree that this guitar is well worth the $599-$699 pricetag and easily is worthy of an A or S rating.

@@barrymiller2272 Thanks so much for taking the time to agree with me! Really glad you're so happy with your guitar. When you purchased it, did it need a setup, or was it good to go? I really don't think customers have been disappointed with the LP Modern Figured. I've only seen a handful of reviews reporting extremely minor issues that were rectified either by the dealer or Epiphone. On the other hand, some of the higher rated models at higher price points on Hunter's list seem to have mixed online reviews overall. I realized this list is based on Hunter's personal experience . . . but with Hunter making his list as both a consumer and influencer, customer reviews are important to consider when rating guitars to give people some guidance. Because the definition of a good guitar is very subjective, reviews give an overall better picture of how good a guitar really is overall -- meaning that there aren't QC issues, it provides good value for the specs and features, that the tones are useable with the stock pickups, that the neck is playable for most people, that the body and paint are high quality, etc.

The first Gibson-aligned product I ever held in my hands was the LP SL. It was so bad an experience that it made me think all slab-body LPs were garbage, including legit Gibson classics. I'd still have a hard time choosing a a Jr., Melody Maker or Special because of that.

I have 3 Epi's, a '96 Korean Les Paul Standard, the '59 and a Crestwood Custom. Seeing the Crestwood (and the Wilshire + Coronet) in the C tier is a travesty, they all play and sound incredible, and are sooo affordable. Dumping them in C simply because you don't like the way they look is very shallow, (I think they look ace) considering how highly rated they are with people who've actually taken the time to try them.

Indeed , the Coronet Exceeded my expectations by FAR ! ! The Crestwood , Wilshire & Coronet are one of the few guitars that have a " single piece Neck through Headstock " Design ! ( with small added side pieces ) ! Amazing made - sounding resonating Guitars !

@@motorrebell oh I know, the Crestwood, with that crazy sweet resonance and the fab mini humbuckers sounds so so close to like a Rickenbacker 360 or similar Rick "semi" (think Peter Buck)

I saw a sno-fall on Facebook marketplace and fell in love because of the white fretboard. (I've got two ibanez dt250s with red fretboards and have always thought the color matched fretboards were super rad) I was a little late to the party so they weren't available new any more... I ended up with a snow falcon, I snagged mine from zzsounds on sale for $599. and I'm pretty sure it was the last new one anyone had in stock anywhere. I wasn't a fan of the neck, it was a little thicker than most of my other guitars so I played it for less than 10 minutes, put a set of white DR strings on it and tucked it away in the in an epiphone V hard case to keep it safe. The matching white soft case, C.O.A. and paperwork are also tucked away & I've been watching the values increase ever since. Strangely enough, I also have an Explorer GT which I got for under $150. on ebay that's a little more comfortable and easier to justify modding at that price range so I threw a set of neon green Dragonfire "Power Rails" in it. Was never a big Gibson or Epiphone fan but they're growing on me.

I have the Tommy Thayer Electric Blue Les Paul & it's my favorite. I also have a Epiphone Les Paul Custom with 81 & 85 EMG's & a Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty. Now I want the Ritchie Faulkner Epiphone Flying V! Now I have to find one. Thanks for introducing me to it!

I’ve been playing the ‘59 Les Paul and love it. Other than the satin finish which makes it feel a little plastic in my opinion is still a great instrument. The price tag too is unbeatable as you get the Gibson pick ups and upgraded electronics. Great review thanks!

The Nancy Wilson guitar is similar to the Night Hawk. Yup, it's a reskinned nighthawk probably with some coil splits and cool features. Not sure but I'm very aware of the body style. It's a Nighthawk.

The blue sparkle Ace Frehley is legit tho. The Budokan was Aces second signature with Epiphone, the first one had lightning bolt inlays and came in 3 finishes. There was a cherry sunburst, a blackburst and a blue sparkle. The cherry and black burst also came with double lighting bolts on the 12th fret in the first run in 1998, the ones after 1998 already came with a block with Aces signature on the 12th fret. There barely are fake Epiphone Ace Frehley models and usually they are very easily recognizable and usually are cherry bursts.

That's a pretty solid lineup on the B tier, especially when you start to factor price in.

I too am kicking myself for not getting an MKH Snofall. I'd still love to get it, but I thankfully have the black 7-string and I bloody love it. Good to hear that his Origin series are solid guitars, as well.

The Epi wino has not Probuckers pickups, has an al Alnico Classic pro and a 98T. The neck profile is slimmer than a normal Epi Custom. Is a very good custom
